it's an alright ink, I own it. But it has no lubricating properties so it isn't that great.

Hello.

Please excuse my ignorance. I'm not sure what "lubricating properties" are or feel like.

Could I ask you to explain, if you have the time?

The ink flows really well and easily out of my pen and glides across the page.

I mainly use blue ink a few weeks ago I was manly using the ink in question in a Parker Frontier and it felt fine but I knew the pen used to write a bit smoother. However I changed the back to my usual ink J.herin Bleu Nuit and a really did notice a difference. The pen felt a fair bit smoother across the paper. I think some brands (normally the more premium e.g. Pilot iroshizuku, J.hebrin and probably quite a few more) use water soluble compounds to provide a soother writing experience.

I think these inks with lubricating dry a bit slower but do reduce friction between the nib and the paper.

Here's good old thread that explains it far better

Thank you.

I'm not sure I totally understand but I'll keep my senses on alert for lubrication vibes from my inks. B)

It is friendly, isn't it? Unassuming but very nice. While I generally avoid cartridges, Sheaffer blue is the one I always have in a pen.

Lubrication is a good/bad thing. It may be good if your pen needs it. It is bad if you are writing on poor quality paper. That is what makes the ink feather and bleed.

I have a pen at work constantly filled with Sheaffer Blue for writing on office-supplied diaries and notebooks. All my other prettier inks just bleed and feather.

Sheaffer inks are too dry for my tastes, but I do love a good blue ink. And recently I've discovered Parker Quink Blue (Not the washable version!). A nice, slightly dark blue, easily obtainable, nice flow, and inexpensive.

I've also found that if you use a few drops of rinse assistant for dishwashing machines, in a glass of water, and just add a few drops of this very diluted mixture to your ink, it will improve the flow of the ink tremendously. And one bottle of this rinse assistant, since I don't have a dishwasher, will last me...
