There is a new pen in asa.... Its Patriot

Made me look :D

I like it, especially the one with the matte black finish. I like the understated look. Goes with my understated personality :P

I'm not sure of the difference between the Revolution and the Patriot, but I ordered a shiny black Patriot to keep my Brahmaputra company.

You have knack for closeup photography

For posting securely try rotating the cap clockwise over the barrel.

Let me know if it works

Also, i think feed is plastic - not ebonite.

i also think the feed is plastic which they have listed on webpage as ebonite....

Also tried turning the cap.... it doesn't work...

In my case I found that the cap posts perfectly. I got two such pens and in both the cases there was no issue with posting

I just ordered one, my first transaction with ASA Pens after lurking for several months. If this pen writes as good as it looks, this won't be my last Indian pen purchase :D

I have a general question that I will place in front of the experts, is the difference between a "triple filler" and an eye dropper/tank filler as simple as a different feed in the Gama pens? I have some extra plastic feeds that fit the number 6 size nibs. I will give this a try sometime today. If this is the case, it should be relatively simple to change pens back and forth in filler styles.

triple filler:

It is a pen that can be used with cartridge or converter or by directly dropping ink into barrel.

which pens qualify:

A pen made with non metallic body material(impervious to intimate contact with ink ), with ink tight threaded joints and has an un-vented barrel, with the nib unit having a suitable mechanism to hold the cartridge / convertor can be used as a triple filler.

A Sheaffer NN is a good triple filler for example.

Thanks Hari. I am curious if the main difference between a Gama Triple Filler and an Eye dropper is the feed that has the nipple on the back or if there is something else.

The JoWo is proprietary size. Its sleeve does not take other feeds (i hv tried one / two other feeds). The feed itself is proprietary and does not take the usual #6 nib. However, I was able to mod a jinhao #6 to fit on it.

Having experimented much, the revolution fine nib was not satisfactory and later which i had micromeshed and turned into a near broad.

But not one to give up, was finally able to retune it back to Fine ! And now it writes better than what it came originally.

But one thing - its not necessary that if its used as ED that it wont burp at low levels.

Infact - i have found Athlete to be more well behaved.

certainly it is the nib housing that is the difference between these two types of pens.

On the nib units from JoWo, Bock and Schmidt and some from Taiwan, the nib unit's housing has an integral nipple and a clutch for gripping the mouth of the cartridge or a converter. Thus using such nib units automatically provides the C/C feature. Now, if the rest of the pen is made ED compatible, then the pen becomes a triple filler.

If any of y'all in the Indian subcontinent have any contacts with ASA Pens, one of my correspondents here in North America has asked about arranging a picture of the Sniper demonstrator. I don't know whom to contact.

Thank you Hari and Anup. DaveBj I believe the Sniper is in the prototype phase. They may not have yet produced the demonstator version.
