New Pens On Asapens

That Genius is a good looking pen. The thing about the 78G nib to know is that you have to use the Tulip feed. The pilot feed is too large for the Tulip. It is friction fit an should slide in with a bit of pressure.

Ah, maybe that's where I was going wrong, although I'm sure I must have tried both. Will have to have another go with more confidence!

The Genius is a fine looking pen - thank you for the comparison shots, anup - but unfortunately it's the thickness I find difficult more than the length.

Cheers, Al

Can you post writing sample or something. I am curious about the writing quality of the hybrid.

That copyright thing in that image written with the "hybrid" !

Makes Pilot nibs fun to use.

I put my savings to test

Maybe the thickness is only apparant, and not real

Airborne XT, Genius and Athlete - Uncapped

I "think" there is hardly much difference between the Airborne and Airborne XT - maybe those who have both may chip in their perspective.

The Genius section I found to be more comfortable. Dont know if its the shape or the quality of the ebonite. It feels a bit "softer".

Regarding the Tulip/Pilot thing

.post-71717-0-13321400-1421690364_thumb.jpg

You have to use the Tulip plastic feed and a Pilot nib. This is a fine from a 78g

post-71717-0-05117000-1421690402_thumb.jpg

The Pilot nib has wings on the side to lock onto the Pilot feed. When I install this nib in a Tulip, I try to align these wings with the slots in the pen.

I am trying to show the slots in the pen. Some difficulty focusing.

This is an attempt to show the wings aligned with the slots.

The nib seats nicely at about this depth.

The complete pen.

Just received a brown-black Genius and a green-black I Can. Both pens have a great feel. Mr S also graciously

added in a free Wality 71JB.

I have jpeg picture but can't figure out how to upload it!

Btw. Are u pressing the pen while writing?

The writing looks medium to broad (broad on captions). Or does the pen write in that width only?

Is there any bleed through on back of paper?

The nib looks like the one found on Deccan pens

It's a fair point; measurements can only tell you so much. I'm pretty much going on what I found with the Gama Forever, to be honest.

Regarding the Tulip/Pilot thing

I am in no doubt it can be done, for the evidence is beautifully presented before me (Thank you!) but I looked again, and at least for my money, it's not a good fit and I just don't have the desire to force it. On the other hand it has given me the desire to swap round caps and piston knob colours, so your efforts are not without results!

Thank you folks.

Cheers, Al

No i did not press the pen ..... no pressure applied it writes medium.... though sold as stock fine nib....

no bleed through on the back of paper i used that is bilt matrix youth series... or the 80 gsm photocopy paper i generally use ...

this is an ambitious nib.... i love it....

Spurred on by several descriptions and discussions of this one, I've gone ahead and ordered one...

S. said it was "under processing" and would be shipped next week, so by next month, it should be in my hands...

Bunch of enablers. all of you!
