Cigar Case In Lieu Of Pen Case?

Recommended Posts

I have been searching for a nice case for my 149 and 162.

The MB Meisterstuk case is fine but the flap is not working for me,

I dont know what it is but opening the flap to access the pen is annoying me.

Also, Im not a fan of zippered cases.

Im thinking maybe a leather 2 finger cigar case would work.

Anybody uses one fo these? How is it working for you?

Any pictures will definitely help me decide.

Cheers.

I have one and it works fine. Mine was bought from an eBay Hong Kong seller and sold as a Leather Cohiba case but the nearest that this case has been to leather is when the plane flew over a field of cows. Despite the provenance it works well and takes the largest pens.

There are some very nice hard chrome leather cigar cases coming out of Italy that are perfect for purpose.

It's probably the hardness. At least that's what's annoying me. The pouch is great, I'm using it and I'm very happy with it, but I wish the flap were a little softer. It takes a bit too much effort to bend it.

The cigar case sounds like a neat idea. I'd love to see some pictures.

Cigar cases work well - I have used a single, a triple and a four slot one. The four slot one would be perfect as it has strong dividers and is lined with leather, but it smells inside like a wet goat and after more than a year still stinks. But then I did get it cheaply whereas some fine cigar cases are rather pricey.

I very nearly had to ask for the forum screen cleaner, as I was enjoying a cup of Earl Grey whilst reading this post. The tea nearly finished up all over my mobile phone screen.

I have a MB double leather case which has never been used, it just is too 'hard', so will eventually sell it on. However, when I bought a couple of MBs a few weeks back, from the 1980s, they came with a MB leather double pen case that had been well used, and is so soft :) That is what I use now.

Might not think what cigars would taste ....

I tried many cases until I found the best for me. The previous ones were either hard or bulky, some did not surround the pens letting them rattle, some did not look look good and there were many other reasons I found them not to my liking.

I purchased this one back in August from an ebay seller and I think it is very good. It is made of very soft grained leather and it accomodates 2 Le Grand size pens easily. I don't think that two 149 size pens will be a problem, maybe a snug fit at the beginning but will be OK after some use because it is very soft to get into shape. I like my pens to be protected entirely with the clip also slid into the slot. This one accepts it. Being soft and sleek, I can slide it into my jacket pockets and sometimes even carry it in my shirt pocket. You could not do it with a thick and hard case. This one even gets softer after some use.

I rolled the flap to show how soft is the case. If you are interested please shoot me a private message and I will send you the link. They are hand made with very good quality leather, perfect stiching etc. I have no affiliation with the seller but a happy customer who bought a second one as a spare.

This is the one I use on my desk at home. A box type with 5 individual slots. Not real leather but still an interesting piece to me.

The brand new one, which may soften up in 30 years time (I doubt I have that long to wait) and my old one ...missing most, well all of the MB snowcap, but a wonderful little pouch

Love it. Where did you find it?
