Nathan Tardif

So I love Noodler's inks... I pretty much go through a bottle every month or so. I have never encountered an ink that I didn't like.

 

I use the Ahab on a regular basis and love that as well.

 

But my question is as follows: does anyone know what Nathan Tardif look like? I subscribe to his youtube channel, and watch his videos, but all you ever see are hands!

 

I know he goes to pen shows and such... does anyone have any pics of this guy?

I found one picture of him on the internet. He's kind of a private guy for someone who is that vocal!

Wow... this guy is elusive. He's kind of this shadowy mastermind/mad ink scientist. He's probably too busy toiling in his secret lair concocting ink that writes without paper or ink with a built-in spellchecker or something like that.

 

If we ever have nano-machine ink made up of trillions of tiny robots that changes colour and glows in the dark, it will be him that invents it, and it will be indelible. Then he'll sell it for $10 a bottle... with a free pen.

 

I hear he's pretty much a one man show... considering the number of colours in his line-up with all those exotic qualities, plus the pens, plus all the new stuff he keeps coming out with... he's probably an android from an alternate dimension where there are 100 hours in a day.

 

That guy must work REALLY hard.

 

In any case, say what you will about his politics, (I'm Canadian so most of it is lost on me) his ink is some of the best, the variety cannot be beat, all at a price that is unbelievable.

 

Nathan, if you're reading this, keep it up, dude!

I don't know him personally, but I sure respect him and his work.

 

Besides, you got a love a guy who knows how to ride a horse, fishes, shoots AND knows the difference between purple and violet.

I don't have anything meaningful to add since I found out what fountain pens were and who Nathan Tardif was a few months ago, but when people mention him I always think of that beer baron episode when Homer and Bart made various types of beer in bathtubs in their basement.

*That's* Nathan? Really??? I would have pegged him as being somewhat older than that. If that photo is really him, he looks a little like my brother-in-law Norman. Who is about 4 years younger than my husband and me. And really not a pen guy (although his daughter is the one I bought the Vector set for as a high school graduation present last year).

Well, the photo is ten years old, so he's probably changed a little. From his videos, he sounds like quite the character.

 

I've never met the man, and I may disagree with some of his politics - I don't know too many of them - but I respect that he works hard, and takes action to back up his beliefs rather than laying them aide for convenience or profit.

 

It sounds like there are some who have taken real umbrage with him for daring to do things differently and making decisions they disagreed with. I'm glad I missed the "Baystate wars", and hope that drama stays in the past.

I can't care less about some of his libertarian and nationalistic quotes on his bottles (no wonder it's hard to find them in UK..lol), but if it weren't for Nathan I would not have had this many inks and flex pens. I believe many of us agree. This person working as hard as any man can do (according to what I hear) has drastically changed the fountain pen world. His videos are sometimes hard to follow, but the interview he did with ink nouveau few days ago was much better. I also want to see him in person, say thanks for reinvigorating my pen hobby (and emptying my wallet...)!

Having wandered from Barry Goldwater was my man, to seeing the Democrats as a right of center party (even the NY-Boston wing of the party)...just wonder why he don't move to a more conservative state like Vermont rather than put up with them.

 

It's nice to see he's not the 70 year old I thought.

I'm really bad about remembering such things (or even paying attention to them to begin with!), but I actually don't remember him looking all that different when I met him last June. If he were on the lam, I think he might still get caught using that photo.
