1.1 And 1.5 Twsbi Stubs - No Difference!

Recommended Posts

So, I received my new Diamond Mini the other day. After having the 1.1mm stub on my 580 for several months, and loving it to pieces, I decided to go one bigger and have a show-off pen for signatures, carrying around, and generally looking cool with.

Strangely, the line produced by the 1.5mm is about the same width as, if slightly narrower than, the 1.1mm!

The good people at Cult Pens (no affiliation; just a satisfied repeat customer) are going to sort me out, but I thought I'd see if anyone else had had an experience like this.

Nope I have a pair of TWSBI 580's with a 1.1mm and 1.5mm. The 1.5 is very noticably wider.

Change is not mandatory, Survival is not required.

My 580 has a 1.5mm and my Vac 700 has a 1.1. It could be your ink, or maybe you just got the wrong nib.

The two inks are Red Dragon and Twilight, both Diamine, the latter of which was previously in the 1.1 580 and gave the same width and wetness as the former does now. The markings on the nibs are as they should be, so it's a bit of a mystery. Cult Pens are going to shop me a new 1.5 Mini nib unit.

Are you sure there wasn't a nib mix-up? Hard to tell from the photos, but the nibs look pretty close. I've got a 1.5 on my Vac700 and a 1.1 on my Mini and my Classic, and there's a noticeable difference in line width. When I look at the nibs themselves, side-by-side, the 1.5 is noticeably larger than the 1.1s.

Thats what im inclined to believe. The nib of the Mini has gone back to Cult Pens today so that they can have a look at it. Hopefully it'll come back having magically grown in size.

(When you open the box it'll be like that commercial "OhOh! It's Magic!")
