I love the art deco style of the Graf von Faber Castell bottle. So even though I didn't need any blue ink I bought the Cobalt Blue just for the bottle shape.

Rubinato ink.

Saw the bottle last week in a shop, and it was so nice that I bought it without testing the ink.

I find myself very drawn to the Iroshizuku ink bottles. They just look gorgeous. Same thing with the Pelikan Edelstein bottles.

Guilty.

The ink wasn't scented. Not one dang pen fit in the bottle and I'm still frustrated. I dumped the ink into a more useful bottle and now it contains colored water.

What bottle is in the middle there? It looks very functional.

I'll keep on struggling, 'cause that's the measure of a man.

That appears to be a regular Montblanc :)

Since my ink bottles are usually put away in some plastic container when I don't need them, I don't much care for their aesthetics. I would get a bottle if it looks practical though, like the akkerman or the montblanc. I also like bottles which are rather 'tall' compared to their diameter like the R&K bottles and less like the Diamine bottles for example. That said, I feel the square bottles are less likely to get knocked over... I just prefer filling from the taller ones.

Thanks Zuzu! Guess I'm going to hunt one of those down. That design is just too functional to pass up.

It's the older bottle, but the new bottle is a functional equivalent.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I prefer the rounder lines of the older bottles. I find the new ones too square. I am glad I kept a few from last century to use as inkwells.

I agree, I prefer the older ones. Do you really think they are so different in use though?

They are functionally equivalent. It is purely aesthetics.

None. An interesting or attractive bottle is a nice bonus, but its the ink I'm basing the purchase on.

I just bought the Caran d'Ache Colours of the Earth Sunset. I really wanted Saffron, but Sunset was an "also want to have" colour as well.

Now going to try a Iroshizuku ink, but not sure of the colour yet.

I prefer the new MB bottle actually (I have both the old and the new ones).
I would have bought again the old sheaffer skrip black, because of the nice reservoir. It is discontinued, does it still count?

I have also avoided buying some inks because the bottle is absurd or butt-ugly.

PS: I rather like minimalist packaging such as R&K's or Diamine's plastic 30ml bottles. If the ink manufacturer decides to burden (and charge) me with an elaborate glass jar, it has to be functional and if possible pretty. :)

Mont Blanc bottles are the once I find to be the most attractive. And when I leave them on top of my desk, they are a great conversation starters. A lot of people ask what it is? Is it an ancient artifact? Do people still use it in the 21st century? Funny enough, a few of them have become fountain pen users.

I acquired a Caran d Ache ink just for the bottle. It was a trade. I don't think I could handle paying the retail price, but now that it is on my desk, maybe, it's really nice.

Montegrappa--heavy glass with the best caps.

Stipula--they look like they come from an apothecary.

Akkerman--I wish they had better caps.

I would totally buy Rubinato ink if I could find it in those bottles.
