Convertor For Classic Century Or Threaded Century Ii

I wanted to know if there is any converter available for Cross Classic Century? OR Is there any Cross fountain pen with a threaded cap for there is a converter available?

First, there are two different fountain pens called the Cross Classic Century. One is the original of that name, first sold beginning 1982 in foreign markets and 1984 in the United States considered as the company's domestic market. It is no longer manufactured. That pen takes the green push-fit converter.

 

The more recent fountain pen called the Cross Classic Century is, I think, still manufactured. It does not take a converter known to me. Definitely not a converter offered by Cross.

 

I own a Cross fountain pen with a screw closure. It is the Radiance. It takes the green push-fit converter. I consider it a very good pen. It is no longer manufactured but fairly easily found on eBay and presumably in other places, such as pen shows. I've forgotten whether the Solo also has a screw closure, but it is a very similar pen and it should be easy to find out whether the cap screws on and off. Both Solo and Radiance are products of the 1990s, no longer manufactured though available on the Web.

 

A more recent fountain pen, the Affinity, has a screw closure. I don't know whether it is still manufactured, but it is still available from Web sellers. At a guess I'd say it is designed for the orange screw-on converter. The printed instructions that come with the pen should address this point. However, as a note of informal reassurance I can add that the push-fit converter will work with more recent pens. It just won't attach by screwing on, and some of us prefer the greater security provided by a screw-on converter.

 

I should perhaps add that the company's own Web site, cross.com, will not give you a complete list of the pens currently manufactured. It is a sales site, and it lists only those pens that Cross wishes to sell from its Web site.

I believe the new Cross Classic Century fountain pen only accepts the slim Cross cartridges and won't take a converter.

I have both, the "modern" ones (purchased about a month ago)

 

The century classic is the very small and slim pocket pen that only accept specifc cartrdiges. The cenury II accept both normal cross cartridges and the cross converter. Can't remember which but one of the two (orange or green) is specific to the townsend.

The original Century Classic (the one with the 'flat' nib) and the Townsend both take the push-fit green converter whilst the Century II takes the orange screw-in converter. I have both. The converters can't be swapped.

 

As for other Cross pens, I don't know.

Apparently Sailor and Sheaffer both had slim converters in the past. So it is possible to make one to fit the new slim Classic Century. But the Cross marketing guys have to feel there is enough possible sales to do it. I think they would rather sell their own cartidge inks than loose the ink sales to someone else's bottle ink.
