I would buy them both. 145 fountain pen and 161 Le Grand ballpoint both will find their use for long years to come. 145 looks authentic as many members recommended and the 161 has the authorized warranty card with the serial number recorded which is so valueable when supplied with a second hand pen.

the fountain pen in the first post looks ok, but the warranty booklet has the words MONTBLANC slanted, which is a bit suspicious. Not sure if its just the camera...

regarding the ''chopin'' fountain pen, how do you think it's value will become in time? will grow, or reduce? is this an limited edition? i like to invest in something future proof, if you can say like that.

Try savings accounts. Pens are almost never a good monetary investment.

I think quite a few have said that if the FP is OK,then 100 euros is a good deal. At that price,if you look after it,you will never lose your money, youmay even make money ... but you will also get plenty of pleasure from it.

I am surprised that the seller is still holding onto it.

At the end of the day, it must be your decision.

I agree with Chunya. A nicely used pen bought at a good deal will preserve the money you invested and the pleasure taken using it will be your gain. A pen could be an investment tool if it is a very limited edition ( indeed I am not so sure about this ) or a NOS pen which should be kept for 30-40 years to become a sought after vintage. I always considered a pen something to spend savings :D

It will reduce in value over time and it isn't a limited edition. If you want to invest in something future proof then FP's aren't the way to go

i asked because i know some mb models like grace de monaco, retails for many $$$( i know this is a newer model), but i don;t know where i read that some old mb from 80' currently have a very high value, but i am sure these models overtake my budget.. i think i will go for the chopin, i am going tuesday to the mb in my country and see if it is legit.

can you recommend some trusty uk sellers on ebay to buy some mb ink or some ink cartridges?

which part of the fountain pen can develop issues over time?, can the nib be changed at mb?if it does, at what cost?

hi, like i said a few days ago, these are the photos of my first mb ballpoint.

i am also going to buy the fb tuesday.

thanks.

i think the ballpoint is original( i haven't checked at mb yet), because the serial on the pen corresponds with the on in the booklet.

correct me if i am wrong? i hope i haven't got a lemon.

I can't see anything wrong with it. I checked the similarity of the serial number and "Germany" engravings with my pen's, they look exactly the same in character. Moreover, you have the warranty card properly filled and stamped. I got mine even without any papers. To me it is genuine, don't you worry anymore, use it, abuse it, get the most out of it.

I contacted the seller again and apparently he does have just the 145 Chopin without any documents, or boxes, just the pen. So no booklet, no MONTBLANC box, so please be kind and watch again just the pen and judge by how it looks without the booklet exposed in photo. Should I take the risk?? Some fast answers will be more then appreciated cause tomorrow I have the meeting with it.

Thanks

The BP looks right to me. Re the 145, we have all advised you of authenticity, several times. It's up to you now whether you buy it or not.

Far as whether or not to buy it, I usually go with "Don't spend more than you can afford to lose".

Far as authenticity, I think everyone has probably given the best input they could, I don't think anyone can say with any absolutely certainty that 100% yes that it's authentic without being an expert and having it in hand.

So... Up to you.
