Have any of you ever tried the writing papers from Kelly Paper? I just heard of them the first time yesterday. Apparently they have a shop in my town but I never knew.

If you have tried it give me your thoughts.........

I've bought maybe a half dozen reams from them in the past few years. They have a great selection and the prices are fair. My local store keeps samples available and has no objection to me trying out a few pages before committing to a ream.

The liberty of the press is indeed essential to the nature of a free state; but this consists in laying no previous restraints upon publications, and not in freedom from censure for criminal matter when published. Every freeman has an undoubted right to lay what sentiments he pleases before the public; to forbid this, is to destroy the freedom of the press; but if he publishes what is improper, mischievous or illegal, he must take the consequence of his own temerity. Kelly, like Xpedx, is aimed at the printing trades. Which means they've got LOTS of paper, most of which won't work any better than the vast majority of papers you encounter. But yes, it's a great resource if you have one nearby. Since it is a wholesale source check with the store before you go to see if they will sell to non-business customers.

The one in my area has no difficulty taking cash and collecting sales tax. I would be surprised if any of the others do. You are correct that a lot of the paper is not suitable for FPs, but knowing a few words like "classic crest" is all that is necessary to get around that problem.

They do sell to the general public and they have at least 3-4 types on their website specifically for writing from what I saw.

Thanks to you I have James Taylor songs going through my head. Can't say that's a bad thing, though :)

I am a tad jealous. My sister got me hooked on him when I was just a kid.
