Montblanc We Honore De Balzac F

Pen2009

Recommended Posts

Finally my Balzac has arrived. In the gift wrap-looking package. The packaging is different from my other WEs. First of all, the pen is outside the box in the plastic tube looking case.

I checked the nib with my loupe and the tines are perfectly lined up. I have not yet taken the time to do an initial dip test.

The pen is solidly built and there is some heft to it. I think the weight of the pen is just right to use the pen's weight to glide over the paper.

As expected from the pen in this price range, I can see and feel the manufacturing precision and details MB put into this pen.

Others commented the stripes on the barrel seems like pulled from Pelikan's. Even though there is no resemblance, I put the Balzac next to my M1000 Green to see if I can convince myself there is any similarity in the stripe designs. I failed to convince myself on that point.

Initially, before I purchased it, I was not sure if the pen was too garish; but, now that I can have it in my hand, the color scheme is sensible and very suitable for the business setting as well. The ring around the top of the cap breaks from the overall color scheme, which hints elegantly this pen is not the run-of-the-mill fountain pens.

The dip test for the Balzac has passed with the flying colors. No surprise there.

Thanks for this picture review, very nice. Enjoy writing with this one (and of course with the other ones as well. Nice collection :) ).

I was considering it when i got the unicef legrand as the price was very close, it was a very close call but that nib just didn't click for me, probably with a more subdued cap or gold edge to the nib... lovely pen in any case.

Beautiful pen! Is that a notebook with a die-cut holder for the pen cut into the pages?

A classic industrial designer (Braun products) has offered this as well. Indeed, the packaging design is as beautiful as the pen!

with the familly picture i can see a detail i had not noticed before. When you see the Collodi and the Balzac you can see that's 2 pens nearly in a row with pointed ends

I have been considering this pen, but as your photos show, the pen is even more stunning than the photos I have seen on Montblanc.

I am liking this pen even more now.

THANKS!

Indeed, the Balzac is a nice one, but not as beautiful as the Marcel Proust!

After many years of staying away from Montblanc I tried a large Boheme and then started with the WEs. Did not have the opportunity to see the Honore De Balzac in person, but after reading this review and seeing the truly excellent photos this goes on my have to get lost. The detailing is extraordinary and beautiful while the pen still remains understated.
