Lamy All Star Colors

Recommended Posts

I'm a fan of the Lamy All Star - the colors really pop and it's a metal pen. Whom may have the best selection of All Star Colors. I've noticed a few colors that are not sold by some of our favorite etailers. I love the Coffee Brown All Star - but alas it's tough to find me thinks. Rather not go to the Jungle of Ebay - but may have too. Thanks kindly for any suggestions.

Lamy introduces a new colour into the Al-Star range each year as a special edition like it does with the Safari. However, as Al-Star sales are much less than those for the Safari these special colours tend to stick around in the market for a little longer. The Coffee Brown (model 22) was introduced in 2010 so I suspect most retailers would have sold out by the end of 2011. Therefore, new examples will be difficult to find but not necessarily impossible.

There's a few threads here on FPN containing member's photos of their collection. Try a search.

From the Safari thread:

All my Al-Stars.

L to R:

Silver 25 ("Al-Star"), Graphite 26, Silver-Blue 27, Ocean Blue 28, Raspberry 23, Ruby 21, Black/Purple 29, Silver-Green 24 (chrome clip), Blue/Green 32 (this year's special colour), Pearl 20 (last year's special colour), Coffee 22, Black 71 (another special colour in 2013).

On top: silver-green (with black clip) and silver.

Note that the silver-blue model can appear almost like a lilac colour in some lights leading to some confusion.

Sorry if it's really obvious, but what do the numbers denote after the colour names?

Great picture Twdpens. I think the green, and the coffee are going for about $125 now. Pretty outrageous, but if you want the colors you're going to pay.

  • 1 month later...

I got the coffee color in 2012 from amazon.co.uk. They no longer have it, but the amazon of Germany seems to. Sold in Euros at 49.

Other countries' amazons use your login from the amazon in your country. I've never tried the German amazon, but I have the English one with great success. No free shipping though.

That coffee color is quite lovely.

I tried, I really tried.

Despite myself, I have caught the dreaded Al-Star collecting disease. Over that last month or two I've become the 'proud' owner of all but the Raspberry model. On my radar but need to wait until payday!

I'm wondering why there is no model designated 30 or 32.

Anybody know?

Model 32 is this year's special colour - see post #3 above. I'm not aware of a model 30 (that's not to suggest there hasn't been one).

What a beautiful collection--it looks like a box of candy. I have the purple. I'd love the blue-green. It doesn't hurt that the Al-Star is a wonderful writer.

Coffee is my favorite, I got mine at my local B&M back when they came out.

Ive just recently purchased a Coffee Al Star from Rolf of missing-pen.de. I got a second chance offer through an ebay listing I bid on that got too pricey for me. I guess it depends on how much you bid and how many he has on hand as to if he will offer you a second chance deal. I didn't pay much much above AU retail price so I was happy....but that would already be expensive to anyone in North America ;) You could try contacting him directly, he sent me a list of other pens he had available as well.
