Cleaning Rotring 600 Knurled Grip

I have a rotring 600, black, in the original style, that I use as my daily workhorse. I've noticed the knurled grip greying over time and getting dirty. What would be a good way to clean it?

Depends on the tools you have:

- in former times I used my electric tooths brush. Ok, not with my everyday brush, but with a dedicated one... ;)

- today I use an ultrasonic bath and try to do it while nobody sees it... the colour of the water might be a little disgusting... :yikes:

There are no facts, there is no truth - just a data to be manipulated...

Didn't have a motorised one, but a normal toothbrush worked wonders, thank you. I'll look into getting an ultrasonic bath, I could use one for cleaning insides as well. I have a bunch of rotring technical pens that nothing short of one of those would be able to clean, too...

I've got some Rapidograph technical pens that I'm working my way through, they can be a complete pain to clean although I haven't had to resort to RapidoEeze quite yet. If you find anything that works well please do share!

Depends on how long the ink's been sitting inside - the ones I have have been dry for nearly 20 years, and the only one I've managed to clean was a 1.2 mm one, and I used water and a bit of detergent. I think ultrasonic could work on them, as they are pain mostly due to the pigmented ink that they use. I've got a mixed collection of Variants, Isographs, and a single Rapidograph. Persistence is the only thing that really works, to be honest...
