Waterman's Patrician Section Loose

I have a beautiful turquoise vintage Patrician in near-mint condition. I soaked it in cold water overnight to clean it before changing inks, and now the section has come loose from the body. The pen writes well and does not leak. What can I do to reattach the section?

The section pulls right out of the body with the sac still attached.

A tiny tiny amount of shellac applied to the section - let dry overnight - then try to fit it. Don't force it - but also don't use too much shellac. This will build up the section diameter and allow a snug fit.

Should the part of the section that fits into the body be cleaned with anything before the shellac is applied?

Only if it's cruddy.
