Lamy 2K Came In A Different Box

My 2k is the only Lamy that came in the correct box. There is some regulation here that requires pens to removed from boxes and clerks will typically not bother to the exact box that matches the pen.

Seriously though, when I bought my 'modern' pen from a stationery shop in Munich in the mid-nineties, the lady behind the counter put in a cardboard box with two flaps held together with elastic. She basically told me why would I want a gift box unless I was going to give it to someone else? I bowed to her logic (still have the box with the receipt in it though!).

I kind of hate you now... lol. While it's a simple cardboard box, the design and literature just screams the era of it's origin.

How interesting, my 2k came in a different box still. It's a corduroy textured, clamshell cardboard box with magnetic closure. Inside is a channel for the pen with two tabs on either end to keep the pen from sliding. This design isn't very robust, as the top tab tore during shipment from being knocked around. The box that kbeezie posted is being sent with the recent Massdrop pens; my own is about 2 years old. A small black polishing cloth was included.

Mine came in the rather nice "presentation box" as shown on the left of zchen's picture, but not from Amazon. But it was the pen I wanted .

From left-to-right:

1. This is not a gift box. Lamy sends pens out from the factory in these boxes. Gift boxes are packaged separately. The retailer will (should) put the right pen in the right box for the customer. The exceptions are Safaris, Al-Stars, nexx etc.

2. This is the current standard box for the 2000, Accent, scala and Studio etc.

3. This is a special box for the 2000M only.
