What To Do With Empty Bottles?

I've started consolidating my ink bottles and now have a few empties that I'm wondering what to do with. What do you do with empty ink bottles (is there anything besides recycling them)?

Depending on the brand of the bottles and such, there are people who do sell the empties online, especially since some people will use them to store excess samples, or to separate off ink they've made or mixed.

I have seen empty MB bottles with packaging sell on ebay for as much as a full bottle.

Mine get reused, ink in plastic bottles goes into glass bottles, plastic bottles get recycled.

I use well designed bottles such as MB's to hold other brands' inks whose designs are bad. The badly designed empties go to recycling.

Save a few !

Sooner or later, you'll acquire an ink bottle that leaks, or with a cracked cap, or have some other mishap/adventure where you'll need someplace to transfer ink. When such an event occurs, a spare bottle or three is invaluable to save the moment or the day. You can swap a spare with someone in need, or just send or give them the bottle.

The other piece to this is if you've completed an ink in a scrumptious bottle, the bottle can be washed cleanly, and placed into use with a nice ink (then) in an ugly bottle.

As others have mentioned, some bottles are good as replacement bottles. I use my 70mL Pilot ink bottle for Noodler's Black because it is such a wonderful bottle, especially compared to the eyedropper the Noodler's comes in.

I have found my Noodler's bottles, both the 3 oz and the 4.5 oz, making their way to school where they are convenient for chemicals or other lab supplies.

However, I suspect my "odd" bottles like the Sailor, J. Herbin 1670, Iroshizuku, and Edelstein may all end up being recycled.

I've got plenty of bottles to put ink into if something is wrong with the bottle that the ink came in, so unfortunately that won't work for my current useless bottles. Sounds like people just recycle the empties they don't want, so I guess I'll do that too (or find someone to pass them on to).

Instead of recycling, give them into the pay it forward sub-forum.

Newbies can use spares of common bottles, beautiful bottles can be used for art and craft.
