Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I noticed that this was a common phenomenon when I was using these inks in cheap Serwex pens, that have a 'breather hold' in the cap: first time I picked them up and used them, after letting them sit overnight, the ink would come out darker - then settle down to the 'normal' colour of the ink. I assumed it had to do with some of the ink drying out a little in the nib - in fact, I'm still pretty sure that's the explanation, but I'm surprised it's happening in a TWSBI pen!

I had 3 of these inks sitting in Serwex 101 (eyedropper) pens, for up to 3 months - by the end of which time, they had ALL changed colour, to greater or lesser degrees. The crimson was the most noticeable: it had almost become a dark blood-red, though it lightened (and brightened) up again when I added water.

I just compared your sample of Toucan Magenta to mine, and they are pretty much the same. The inks are very unsaturated, and tend to look better in a wettish pen on non-absorbent paper.

The inks in your scans generally look a touch paler than mine - even though you're using a less absorbent paper! - but yes, they are somewhat 'undersaturated', and the Magenta DEFINITELY is more of a pink.

The Green, Crimson, Orange, Sienna and Umber are all nicely intense, but I might have to let a couple of the others evapourate a bit to concentrate the colours.

Hope you don't mind me 'hijacking' your review, but... I couldn't help myself, I had to order two 30ml bottles of Toucan ink, just because they looked so, well, 'kitsch-y' on the JustWrite website - and they arrived today! Can't say I'm a fan of the label, but in the hand my first reaction was, 'How tiny... and how *cute*!'. So here's a comparative photo, just fyi - not sure this would be the most economical way of exporting overseas, but it's what they sell currently...

Same volume of ink as the J. Herbin - but for some reason it still looks small by comparison!
