Danitrio Soft Nib?

Recommended Posts

I have a soft stub on a Mikado and a soft BB on a takumi, and both write really well. They're soft and springy, but I wouldn't say they're flex nibs.

thanks.

Most of the replies have said similar things, though one person's "springy" is another person's "mushy". I guess I have to try one. It's hard to decide to buy it without trying, though....

I would definitely recommend giving nibs.com/John Mottishaw a call or email. They'll be able to help you better and also get an idea for how you write to give you some advice on the nib.

Scribere est agere.

To write is to act.

In my experience, the Danitrio flex stub was mushy and kept clicking whenever I tried to write with it. Line variation due to flexing was minimal at best.

Hi,

I just bought another Danitrio, this one with a soft M, and the nib clicks when I write with it. What causes that?

Could the tines be the one causing the clicking? Maybe the tines are misaligned? I love my soft XF nib, very springy and gives me enough line variation.

Hm, interesting. Perhaps contact the dealer if you purchased from one? I've had a soft EF and now have a soft EEF -- while I find I dislike Danitrio's soft nibs, they don't click.

Most probably it is because the tipping halves might be touching each other and they slide up or down with respect to each other with an audible click as you write.

In case you wish to write to me, pls use ONLY email by clicking here. I do not check PMs. Thank you.

Oh, and while we are on the subject, what inks work best with a Danitrio soft stub?

Wet, flowing inks are my personal inks of choice, like Iroshizuku or Diamine. Mostly because I use my Danitrios as eyedroppers to take advantage of the larger ink capacity and I need a smooth-flowing ink to keep the feed consistently fed. =p I find that my Danitrios have a tendency to hiccup with drier/watery inks (R & K, J. Herbin, I'm looking at you!)
