Time for the inner pieces pink leather it seems to have taken a long time to make these today.

I have left the final trimming until all of the pieces are fixed together.

Unfortunately the pink thread I purchased is too thick and looked wrong so we have decided to go with white and I have already sewn the ends of the elastic to the outer cover and all being well this cover will be completed tomorrow.

I know I am going to love this. Beautiful purple color. If I wanted to add a charm would we do that now or later? I want a silver elephant. I will find one on etsy, and can have it shipped to me or to you, depending on when it gets added. Thanks!

I plan on shipping your cover this week but I can add a little silver link maybe on the end of a book mark or any where you wish.

I was thinking I might try to find some white elastic to go with the white thread ?

Please let me know what you think

I am happy to add the charm after I get it! I can't believe it is coming so soon! I am afraid I will get white elastic dirty. Maybe purple or pink?

Almost done now.

There is a lot of sewing involved in this cover

I still have to finish off the edges the traditional finish is black edge kote I may test to see if the pink edges will take purple dye and then finish with clear edge kote just to be different.

Thanks for looking

  • 2 weeks later...

I received my notebook cover today and t is indeed stunning. I had been using a standard black midori, which I immediately subbed out. I, quite piggishly, crammed SIX notebooks plus a business card holder in. And yes, it worked, but i ended up taking one out so the pen would slide in more easily. I am travelling though, so I didn't have the pen I intend to use with the notebook. When I am home, and pair the pen and notebook, I may indeed get six in.

I am a lawyer, and use a different notebook for each active case, plus a calendar, so I was not quite as greedy as it sounds with the six notebooks. I had a reason. With the regular midori I just subbed in whichever notebooks I needed with me at any given time. This is a great improvement.

I took pictures but don't think I can post. My63- tell me if you want me to send them to you. I love the notebook, it is just breathtaking. So soft, softer than a real midori, and bigger, and with the cool pen hole. The color of the cover is really neat, it looks like dark jeans in some lights, so the white stitching has a very cool effect.

Trying again with photobucket (please note I blurred out the info on my business card, any stray weirdness is my subpar photo editing and not my lovely cover):

Do you make these for FPN members?

I'd be interested, for these seem quite remarkable.

I'd love a think, soft leather cover for a Moleskine nobebook, for example.

I have not progressed as well as I had hoped today although I am now ready to start applying dye.

These are the processes that need to be completed before then.

The three tools you can see here are from top to bottom

A stitch groove cutter it is adjustable and cuts a groove a fixed distance from the edge

An edge beveller it is used to round over the edges ready to be slicked later.

Finally a stitch marking wheel used instead of a pricking iron to mark out the stitches

The next stage is to wet the leather again and apply the dye

Thanks for looking
