Yellow is not an easy colour to dye honestly!

I did not like the way the colour was darkening applying more dye seemed to be making it worse I spent a few hours trying to even the colour but in the end I decided to start again.

This colour should lighten up a little as it dries out as for the first one I think I will dye the outside black but leave the inside yellow.

Thanks for looking

I'm excited. They are looking fantastic. Ought to really stand out in a crowd. Just ordered some Tomoe River inserts in 3 x 5 and Passport size, from an FPNer on etsy. Now the anticipation builds. Thank you for taking on this project , for me, Michael. Jim

Where did you get the Tomoe River inserts from, was the Etsy seller in the UK?

Here's the Link, second time I ordered from him. IIRC, he's on the East Coast, USA. Wouldn't hurt to ask if he'll ship to UK.

Easy to work with. 4-5 days ago he had an add in FPN Classified with the etsy link.

He has Passport and 3 x 5 regular sizes, you pick which one you want. Good luck, Jim

Notebookish on FPN is the name, b/c him to see about shipping

Some time ago my daughter asked me if I could make something for one of her lecturers who was leaving, I agreed and assumed it would be the end of term sometime in July.

We were discussing this yesterday and I was asked how the cover was doing my reply was I have not even started yet as you have not given me any information my daughters response was "Well she leaves on Friday" I said "oh"

My Daughter adopted my first midori style cover for about a week when she gave it back and asked my to dye it blue so I made a new one I left the original on my desk as you see it below

As I don't have enough time to make one from scratch I decided to use no 1 unfortunately it has a lilac suede interior lining so dying the leather was a non starter.

A few weeks ago I bought some fine embossed skins these are very soft and tactile so decision made I do have red but I also have purple

The original inside

This is the new outside

Once the glue has set I will re punch the holes and trim the edges and apply some edge kote to seal the edges then add elastic and shinny bits.

Thanks for looking

This notebook and cover had to be ready for this morning so here it is

As this leather is perforated I had some problems with the glue coming up through the holes this caused me to damage the first piece.

Thanks for looking

I have been silently following your projects, for a moment, now.

I admire your searching to improve yourself on the making of better, and better models.

I admire the thoroughness you put in your creations.

Bravo, again and again. These models are beautiful (even if my preference goes to the one on first page - honey colour. Absolutely beautiful).

Please continue to create and share with us.

Thank you for it.

I don't like waste The yellow case I made earlier with the dye that looked odd has been re dyed black I saw a wallet online that was black with a yellow interior so that was my inspiration.

Thanks for your kind words

I started this journey trying to recover mobility and function in my damaged right hand, however I have gained much more than that I am part of a supportative community and I honestly wish I could make covers and cases for everyone who wants one.

Instead I hope that I can help those who would like to make their own by posting pictures and giving information to those who ask.

The covers are very simple to make although dying them is a little more complicated.

Thanks to you Jim for ordering two covers the black one literally has someone's name on it.

Thanks again to everyone for their support

Michael
