I have a P40 "EF Masuyama nib" smoke & ice, and a model 02 "B nib" in black and cinnamaroon. Love them both, but the small P40 with the EF nib is great for my note taking needs at work.

Just bought an 02 in broad nib from FC at the Chicago pen show. Jim Rouse (spelling?) assembled the pen right in front of me. Picked the 02 body I wanted, then picked straight broad out of their 41 or 42 different nibs, had a choice of black or silver nib finishing and elected to have the nib set out a bit from the feed than standard creating longer tines and a bit more spring. Jim filed, I wrote, Jim filed. The pen writes perfectly for how I write. If you have a pen show near you, check the FC site and see if they will be there. Every fountain pen lover should have the opportunity to go through this process. The only other company I have seen that does this is Edison, and yes I have bought two of their pens at the Chicago Pen show. Additionally, I have an original 29 that has been retired, it is maybe 7-8 years old or so. Purchased from the FP site. Still writes like a dream. Jim filled the pen with FC Blue-Black ink which I like. Comes in a leather pen pouch which is very nice. All that and the price, $165.00!

The number 2 is a great pen. It sounds like you got all fixed up. I love my pen!

I have a gorgeous brown shimmer Panther 40 with a Matsuyama 14K medium italic semi-flex nib. It is out of this world. I love it. It just glides across the paper. It is definitely my favorite pen.

I guess the semi-flex thing was not part of the regular available line-up, yes?

I'm struggling with mine. Got it about 10 days ago but am finding it hard to connect with at some level. Not sure if it's the design shape or something. Bit embarrassing really considering the cost.

I'll buy it from you if it never connects! :)

Enjoy it. I'm hoping to get on their list soon.

After starting this thread more than two years ago, I'm amazed that it has grown such long legs.

It seems the F-C team & Mr. Masuyama has been busy putting smiles on faces. :)

For my own purposes I've finally settled on a combo of a smoke acrylic model #03 mated with an absolutely perfect 18K Pendleton stub that leans a bit towards a CI.

Since this pen is all resin with a gold nib, it's well suited for using iron gall inks.

Enjoy your Franklin-Christophs. :D

I just seen this posting and then quickly went over to my inventory, I have 16 Franklin-Christoph's if that helps the forum.....It's early and I havent counted by name whuch model's I have? But I do know that the most recent model I purchased was Stablis #66 with a Fine Cursive Italic nib done by Mike-it-work, it is a Greenish looking clear pen that looks like a coke bottle and is large. I'm just going from memory here as I've yet to sleep last night.........

By coincidence, I was just writing in my Hobonichi Techo with my F-C 19 in Smoke and Cinnamaroon with a 14k Masuyama medium cursive italic.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

I have four Model 03 Iterum pens -- they fit my hand really well, and the broad italic nib is my favorite nib

I only own one, the pocket 66 in solid ice, but it is my favorite pen. I am seriously considering buying another one, perhaps this time in black.

I recently bought a Model 66 Stabilis in ice, and I am blown away at what a wonderful pen this is. It writes beautifully, it's gorgeous to look at, and it comes with a converter and a zippered pen pouch.

Their service is also top-notch and super-responsive.

It's one of the best pen purchases I've ever made.

Whatever pen you get from them, you won't go wrong.

At Thanksgiving, a daughter-in-law fell in love with my green and ice Model 02 with a F-C music nib. So, I told her to take it home. I really missed that pen, so I just got another for myself. I was down to two Model 02's!

I have an Italian Ice 02 model, picked up at the Ohio Pen show. SIG medium nib. I really enjoy writing with this pen; the nib is a little scratchy when I spin it when writing (a bad habit I have), but it feels good in the hand. It also looks good on the desk. My big complaints are twofold:

1. it is clipless, and tends to roll away when I am not looking (it has hit the carpeted floor several times, with nary a crack in it). This is my fault; I wasn't paying attention in the buying frenzy at the Pen Show, and didn't really process until later that I picked up a clipless pen.

2. ink seems to collect in the cap - i.e., ink is coming off the nib and staining a circle inside the cap. I haven't figured out why this is happening, but it seems to get jarred when traveling (or maybe when it is rolling off the desk - I don't know!). It does clean up quite easily, though.

Neither of these issues would deter me from buying another F-C pen. It truly does write well, and looks great.

Side note 1: the friend I was with bought a F-C 66, I think, with the same SIG medium nib. The last I heard, she loves that pen. I believe her only issue might be that it is too short to handle a converter, unless the mini converter fits it.

Side note 2: though the OP didn't ask about F-C paper/journals, I know they get used. I was at a conference two weeks ago, and noticed the journal being used by the man next to me. Even though it was open, and thus I couldn't see the logo on the cover, I immediately suspected that was an F-C portfolio. At the bak, I checked - and I was right. He was quite happy with that purchase.

I have four F-C pens. Each one is a joy to write with. They always

start up immediately and have never given me any issues. My nib

choices on their pens range from their 1.9 Music nib, 1.1 Stub in Gold

to several Masyama ground broads into CI's both steel and gold.

I recently picked up the model 31 at the Philly Show and the design

incorporates all of the best features of a few of their pens imho.

American made, well built with attention to detail. And with it

customer service that is second to none!

Now, if they would get some more color choices for the Model 19, I would

have five of their pens.

Was just about to pull the trigger on a 19 today......when to my horror no stock :( I did have a peek at the 33 as I love the Kong's Gold option but not sure if I like it.

How does a 19 compare in size to say a 146?

Thanks

Anderson has some of their color variation in stock if that does anything for you. Would have to pick up a Masuyama or SIG nib separately though if you wanted one.
