I have an 02 and an 03, one with the medium stub. They are great pens and the stub nib is fantastic. I personally believe the block threads are brilliant. I do think the block threads look best (i.e less noticeable) in the black acrylic versus the emerald. I ended up returning another nib and found the service without reproach.

I have a Model 19 with a stub nib and it writes spectacularly. I have always wanted one and when F-C was at the Dallas Pen Show last year with their test kits I bought one. I still have it in my rotation. Great pen.

I've owned 7 F-C pens overall, but only have 1 now. I live near F-C, and also near several of the universities that inspired the colors for the Collegia, so several of those have become gifts to recent graduates (all of which are writers or English majors)

Collegia (27), Orange F: This was the first pen I bought pricier than a Lamy. After a year it developed a problem with the cap. They told me to bring it in to look at it, and they wound up giving me a credit toward another pen.

Collegia (27), Light Blue M: Gift to a UNC Graduate

Collegia (27), Red F: Gift to a NC State Graduate

Collegia (27), Blue with Silver cap F: Gift to a Duke Graduate

Bellus (29), Black with Red Band F: I bought this one before the Radiant Red finish came out. I didn't want 2 so when I bought the Red one I sold this one. It was an excellent pen.

Bellus (29), Radiant Red with a Masayuma Stub: This was a beautiful pen, but it just didn't work for me. Unposted it was barely too small, but posted it was too big. broke my heart to sell this one.

Intrinsic (02), Anderson Pens Edition: While the other F-C pens are more my taste (visually), this one is more my speed (ergonomically). Since I bought it 2 months ago, it's been continuously inked.

They make lovely pens, and have the best customer service around. I've been wavering on getting an Eclipse (25), but so far the reason I haven't is because of the reviews that said it was difficult to clean the nib after filling.

I have a pocket 40 needle point ground by Mr. Masuyama, at least 3 #14 Magnes and 3 #27 Collegia and have been fortunate enough to buy second hand one of their #01 I.PO. Pens. All, except possibly the IPO, have steel nibs. All write very well. I recommend them highly.

Their pens and cases are of high quality and inexpensively priced. One of my favorite pen companies. Great products and great service.

I have a Model 29 with a steel Masuyama Italic. The pen is very nice and the nib is absolutely wonderful. It has a LOT of line variation, but can write on more types of paper than other italic nibs I have with similar amounts of variation ("other" being a Binder VP nib and ones I've ground myself)

I also have their 6-pen leather carrying case and it is very nice.

I'd really like to get a Model 3 or 19 and I'm thinking about selling the 29 to help pay for one of them. I do wish they made a piston or vacuum filler instead of them all being cartridge/converter pens

The more I read these posts, the more I'm getting excited about the arrival of a black/maroon model # 03.

I have already selected the stainless Masuyama Broad Stub that will go with the pen.

Many thanks to all who have contributed to this thread.

A nice collection there, C40!

Make sure you post pictures, writing samples, christening, etc. when your new 03 arrives.

To give this thread a bounce, tinta, did you get your F-C Model #3? If so, how do you like it?

Franklin-Christoph, Italix, and Pilot pens are the best!
Iroshizuku, Diamine, and Waterman inks are my favorites!

Apica, Rhodia, and Clairefontaine make great paper!

I have quite a few of the FC pens and most of them have custom nibs. I absolutely love them! For one they make a quality product, two, they care about their customers, three, their pens are typically good looking!, four, they stand behind their product in the event their is an issue, five, they have a mike-it-work in their corner cutting their nibs! And six they ship their product very quickly......and there you have it, my opinion of Franklin Christoph.......

Hmmm.................I've never heard of a thread "bouncing" before. What does this expression mean?

Specific to your question:

I've been very happy with the clip-less version of the Franklin-Christoph model # 03. It has been in almost daily use for the last two months.

At first I thought that the unusual box threads in the front of the section might interfere with the handling of the pen, but this hasn't happened. In fact while I'm writing, I completely forget that these threads are even there.

I love the simple design of the model # 03.

While I am waiting for an equally simple, unbranded 18K JoWo 1.1 custom stub to arrive from John Mottishaw (no affiliation), I am using a perfectly tuned F-C factory ss. 1.1 calligraphic nib.

That's a gorgeous picture! Glad to hear you're pleased with it! It's one of my next two pens to acquire - the 03 and the 02. I love hearing good things about F-C pens, because I really enjoy their pens and their excellent customer service.

BTW, giving a thread a "bounce" is my expression for bringing it to the top of active threads. It wasn't old enough, exactly, to call it resurrecting the tread or necromancing it.

Thanks for the kind words Blue_Moon.

I also like the look of the model 02, but its section is too large in diameter for my small hands.

The after sale service at F-C is one of the best I have encountered.

The original nib I chose for the pen was a stainless B stub, ground by Nagahara-san of Sailor. This nib turned out to be narrow for my taste. Franklin-Christoph sent me two excellent 1.1 factory italics in exchange.

Their leather goods, especially the pen cases, are absolutely beautiful too.

I have a number of their pens as well as almost all of their leather goods. One pen that I love is the Abditus, which does not get a lot of play in FPN. The Masuyama medium stubs are the best I have.

Sorry to revive an old thread! New member here and wanted to see what others have thought about Franklin-Christoph's pens! I was on the fence between the 19 and 29 and opted for the Bellus because it was to be used at my office. I got my black and maroon one in today and I couldn't put the pen down! It's a pen I want to use all day! I have the Bellus with the Masuyama custom medium stub. And man, does this write smooth! Prior to this pen/stub combo, the smoothest FP I owned was the Kara Kustoms Ink with the F Schmidt nib. But it looks more of a M stroke when pen goes to regular paper.

Congratulations on your first F-C pen! Probably it won't be your last.

Franklin-Christoph pens have a way of growing on you. They also have excellent customer service.

As for reviving a necro-thread, there was a thread about this same topic a while ago. The consensus seemed to be, that if approached thoughtfully, reviving an old thread is not a bad thing at all.

You could post a same new question, but then you may miss previous posts about the topic (unless you Google Searched it).

The improved search function on the top left of the FPN page works very well for most inquiries.

BTW: :W2FPN:

You can learn a lot here. Enjoy!
