nice looks, but that step looks really sharp! it's not for me I'm afraid

I have the 28 and the step is not sharp at all, but it can be a bother I must admit.

I can't risk it, about 2-2.5 cm from the nib is exactly where I hold my pens!

but thanks for showing it, it looks rather more elegant and somewhat different from other FCs

I'm in the beginning stages of my fountain pen addiction journey and hadn't really paid much attention to F-C until a couple of weeks ago. After reading some reviews and checking out the website, I ordered a Model 31 (classic black with a fine nib). Love it! It looks great, feels great and writes great. I'm already planning my next F-C purchase (probably a Model 19).

Glad you like you're 31 - I have one as well. If you think the 31 is comfortable, wait till you try the Model 19. A little pricey but 'bliss'

I just ordered a Pocket 20 a few minutes ago. I wanted something a bit smaller for daily carry and the classic black just came back in stock. The 19 is next, though!

I just ordered my 4th Pen from FC, Its a Model 02 with Antique Coke Bottle Glass and Colored Tiger Red Cap and Feed section.

From the one photo on the FC website, the cap/feed section looks black with a tint of red. It arrives tomorrow! so I will post photos that hopefully show off the colors better.

What surprises me is that its still for sale. Usually I see their special editions sell out within the day

I have 2 special items edition No 45 from Anderson Pens and Van Ness Pens, and a pocket 66 in Ice Glass - I really like them all

From their Stock Room Page:

Model 02 Classic Black / Tiger Red / Antique Glass SE FP

We've done this combo in the Model 20 and p20 and now we are keeping the theme going in the Model 02.

Now selling the second larger batch (50) of these, while supplies last.

It's been 2 months since I got the Pocket 20 and it has become my daily carry pen. I wanted something a bit easier to carry than the Model 31 (I guess shirt pockets are not as accommodating as they were when fountain pens were the norm?). The Pocket 20 is the perfect size, plus the slip cap makes it easy to jot quick notes. The fine HPS nib is a pleasure to write with. The 31 still gets its fair share of use at home, but the Pocket 20 is my go-to pen.

I just ordered a Model 19 (Black & King's Gold, medium HPS nib). I suspect it will become my desk pen.

I do have one major gripe about Franklin-Christoph pens...they're causing me to ignore all of my other pens!

Im glad to see more people interested in Franklin-Christoph pens. They have quite the variety to choose from and so many wonderful materials. They are my absolute favorite brand. Hopefully these attached pictures comes through. A look at some of my collection in various models.

That's an impressive collection DessertMaker55! I'm guessing the timepiece is the IWO No.1? Not to derail the thread from F-C pens, but how do you like it?

Yes you are correct about the watch. And I absolutely love it! I love the simple and elegant look without all the complications. Ive been wearing it every day for almost a year now.

I'm not nearly as crazy about F-C pens as I am about their nibs, especially the gold nibs ground by Mike Masuyama. His medium and broad cursive italics are amazing, and I am quite disturbed that his gold nibs are not available on the F-C website. The return of the SIG nibs is encouraging, but I've not had the chance to try them.

Those of you with skilled hands take note: there is a massive, increasing demand in the fountain pen world for excellent nib work, far exceeding the supply. If you want to stay very busy and make a real name for yourself, now is the time to take your skills to the highest level.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

Their nibs are truly incredible and its one of many things I love that they do. I really enjoy the variety and choices. While it can be overwhelming at first its really amazing getting to try them all and figure out what you like best. For those unable to make pen shows they do have a return policy. If a model/nib isnt working out within the return policy you can exchange for something different or return. They are excellent to work with and will help you with your questions.

Going back to the nibs I cannot imagine what its like to stock so many different choices. Gold, HPS and Shadow. Stock nibs, Flex, Masuyama and SIGs and then their custom Christoph nib. WOW! Ive tried them all several times and what a joy. I cant tell you how much I struggled first getting into pens when all I had a choice of was fine and medium at brick and mortar locations. I had no clue what else was out there until I went to my first show.

As far as nib availability its my understanding that Masuyama is a very busy guy. Those of us who are familiar with him and his work know how amazing he is! So Im happy we still have the ability to get one of his nibs when we purchase an F-C pen. F-Cs business has increased tremendously since when I first met them and Im guessing because of such high demand for Masuyama nibs they want to ensure those purchasing a pen still have the option to get a Masuyama nib.

For SIGs...go try one...immediately! They are amazing!! I have both from Jim and Audrey and both are wonderful! Im definitely all about broader nibs. Their Broad and BB SIG nibs are awesome!

If you can get to a show a highly recommend sitting down to try all their nib options. See whats out there and discover what you prefer. Even if you dont buy a pen while youre there it gives you an idea of what nibs you like. So down the road if you buy something online youll already know what nib option to choose from.

I bought a 02 model a couple of years ago with a M Cursive Itaclic gold nib, and it is a dream! Since I bought that pen, I've been trying to get all my nibs customized because "normal" nibs are not enough!

that pen has been my #1 writer since the first day I receive it (I also receive it with a free pen case, great detail from F-C)

Just received this pen yesterday and started using it right away. It's the Franklin Christoph model 02 Intrinsic in a new color, "translucent lavender with cherry red compliments" as they describe it. I chose their steel medium nib with the black coating. It's a lovely writer with J. Herbin Poussiere de Lune ink.

thank you for showing your 02, this is the best ever picture I have seen showing the section of this pen which now confirms there will absolutely be no step down bothering my fingers.

The 02 is now on my wish list! (with a Matsuyama probably)

What about colours? FC is a bit scarce of colour options (and often you have to wait until the colour you like goes back into rotation...).

I'm not a fan of demonstrators though, which other colours to choose? anyone to show their 02 non-demo?

That's a very nice pen! I'm a bit jealous!

I agree that the section is very nice and it's comfortable to hold. As for colors, right now I see that FC is offering a few solid colors of this model on their site. They are nice looking.

Thanks! Your clear body with black looks good too. That Masuyama grind is very nice. Thanks for showing it.

My brother texted me that he almost bought a $750 Pelikan, but stopped himself. Worried that the Pelikan would stay on his mind, I told him about Franklin-Christoph.

He ended up buying a No. 55 Pentium in black with antique glass middle, and a Masuyama B stub. I probably would have bought the No. 20 pocket pen in the bright Nuclear color if the Broad SIG nib had been in stock.

Then lucky me! I found an email letting me know I’d won a pocket 66 in a drawing on The Well Appointed Desk blog. It is a Pen Addict collaboration with F-C in Orange with gray section. The nib is EF I’ll give it a chance, but I really love italic and stub nibs.

When I got my No. 31 Omnis, I emailed to ask when the Smoke and Ice would be back in stock. The reply was they had one or two, and could sell it to me.

Right now, that might not be the case because of their recent Online Pen Show. Still, it might be worth the trouble of writing an email to ask.
