More of a bluish-purple than a purplish-blue, but Sailor Shigure is nice color. Its supposed to be available again soon.

I bought the Iroshizuku Ajisai and the Murasaki-Shikibu, and will give them both some love as purple-y blues. I also like the Edelstein Sapphire (the Iroshizuku is only $4.50 more a bottle than the Edelstein on Jetpens).

Got around to trying Diamine Imperial Blue in a stub nib. Seems more purple than blue.

Nice! May have to go for a bottle.

Too many of my blurple samples have turned into blurple bottles of ink! I'm glad to see so many of my favourites mentioned. In bottle form I currently possess:

Akkerman Binnehof Blues

Sailor Ultramarine

Diamine Bilberry

Noodler's La Coleur Royale

Diamine Sapphire Blue

Once my two Diamines run out (next few months) I think I'll try Edelstein Sapphire.

I sadly am not a fan of blue purples hence only one sample to show you

Oh poo, is this the same as Diamine Imperial Blue. If so, sorry KBeezie.

Iroshizuku Ajisai is very nice ink. It is the most purple of the Iroshizuku blues.

attika,

That Shigure looks fabulous. Where did you first get yours?

Also, how far over the line to purple does it look in person, to your eyes?

My black Kaweco Sport came with a free cartridge of a very nice purply blue - presumably a standard for the company. Only problem is, I don't know what the ink was to get some more. Anyone know what it's likely to be?

Both Montblanc Royal Blue and Sailor Jentle Ultramarine have a luminous purple tinge, both beautiful, imho, and excellent performers as well.

+1. Excellent inks, both. Ultramarine has been my favorite for almost a year now (a record for me).

I'm a creature of habit and have used the same ink for more than 20 or so years. I buy Waterman blue and purple and mix it 70% purple to 30% blue. Nice purplish blue called burple. Try it - the ink is well priced, good drying time, runs smooth and easy to get.

Lots of great comments on this thread. I'll cast my vote for Edelstein Sapphire, although I also like Iroshizuku Ajisai; Diamine Sapphire Blue, Bilberry, and WES Imperial Blue; R&K Cassia; and J. Herbin Eclat de Saphir.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

Got it from the great guy mentioned in this thread. Last week I've ordered some Iroshizuku from him as well.

I'd say its a purple somewhat on the colder side, that has a hint of blue to it.

As it seems it will only be available again sometime around June.... :(

That Diamine Imperial Blue is cool. It is purple in the bottle and goes on the page purple but dries to an almost blue. In dry writing pens it stays purple on the page. I received my first bottle of it a couple of days ago and it is messing with my eyes. I find myself walking up to strangers and asking, "what color does this look like to you?"
