Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I can't find my sample of Aurora blue, but I do love the ink.

Here is Royal Blue.

I think these might be the kind of blue tones you mean. PM me if you'd like a a few samples.

Wouldn't it be great if Nakaya used TWSBI piston fillers instead of Platinum cartridge converters?

Aurora Blue. Definite strong hints of purple.

Peikan Royal Blue. Less hints of purple but still a very nice color and ink.

Binder's Blurple (50:50 mix of Waterman Blue and Purple) but other ratio's can be used. You can also use Waterman Florida Blue (now called Serenity Blue) alone. It is a superb ink but to my eye a fairly straight blue with little or no no hints of purple.

+1 for Diamine Bilberry.

R&K Cassia is definitely more purple than blue but is very nice.

Edit: I like the look of that Edelstein Sapphire. I haven't seen it before.

Take a look at Iroshizuku Asa Gao. Very close to Baystate Blue color, but very well-behaved ink.

Favorite pen/ink pairings: Edison Brockton w/EF 14K gold nib and Noodler's 54th Massachusetts; Visconti Pinanfarina w/EF chromium conical nib and Noodler's El Lawrence; Sheaffer Legacy w/18k extra fine inlaid nib and Noodler's Black; Sheaffer PFM III fine w/14k inlaid nib and Noodler's Black; Lamy 2000 EF with Noodler's 54th Massachusetts; Franklin Christoph 65 Stablis w/steel Masuyama fine cursive italic and DeAtramentis Document Blue; Pilot Decimo w/18k fine nib and Pilot Blue Black; Franklin Christoph 45 w/steel Masuyama fine cursive italic and Noodler's Zhivago; Edison Brockton EF and Noodler's El Lawrence; TWSBI ECO EF with Noodler's Bad Green Gator.

I think that De Atramentis' Sherlock Holmes would be a good match. It's purple tinge is distinctive and lovely, especially when using a flex or italic nib.

Another vote for Aurora Blue. I normally like "true" blue inks, and Aurora Blue is usually just a shade too purple for me. Also one of the most well-behaved inks in my collection.

Another option might be Diamine Midnight. It's a kind of dark purpley blue-black with some beautiful red sheen visible in broader nibs.

DA Royal blue has a good purple tinge. Gives it that real Royal color.

It is a saturated ink. Good lubrication.

I gave my Bottle of Waterman Florida Blue away to a school kid after getting it.

It replaced Florida Blue as my ink for dry pens.

Super nice comparison. I used my cosmic cobalt for mixing because I never got it to look that vibrant. Of the colors which would you describe as the most "retinal searing"?

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

You know, I think the cosmic cobalt. I know Baystate gets all the press and I have to say I love it as it lays down on the paper, but the CC really is brighter once it dries.

+1 on Asa-Gao. Also, this is too purple for some and may not answer your shipping needs, but I love Noodler's La Couleur Royale. It's bluer than Diamine Bilberry.

ETA: If you like J. Herbin inks, have you tried Eclat de Saphir?

Aurora Blue

If it were a blue shade that I wanted then I could have conceivably gone decades with just Aurora's Blue and Black bottles.

I had a long search for the same. when I landed on Diamine Bilberry, my search ended. It may not be for you, but you ought to give it a look early, just in case.

I had a good look at the suggestions from everyone, thank you. I still can't help but find Edlstein Saphire very interesting hence I have ordered bottle however I have added a bottle of J.herbin Bleu Myosotis as well as a bottle of Diamine Bilberry to my ink wishlist. It's just I'd quite like to finish a few bottles (skrip Blue and Quink Blue) before I add much more ink to my collection also Bleu Myosotis is quite similar to bleu nuit so I should finish bleu Nuit off first.
