Bung Box Soleil

I am actually read sad about this ink. I wanted it to be amazing, but it's just not.

It's not that the colour isn't nice. It is. It's just that the ink behaves kind of terribly.

It feathers on some papers, smudges a lot, and bleeds through others.

Admittedly that is a 1.1 stub, but still, a lot of inks I have don't do that, even in a 1.1 nib.

It looks nice on Rhodia ...

... but smudges quite a bit on sketch paper and tomoe river paper.

And it feathers on Rhodia lined paper.

Shading is nice, but that doesn't make up for the bad behaviour.

And to top it all off, this acts like a highlighter ink in the pen - hard to wash out, becoming fluorescent when it comes in contact with water. I tried mixing it with another ink and it seemed kind of okay in the pen, but the sludge it left behind on the silicone grease around the edge near the nib (inside the barrel) did not inspire me with confidence. I only kept it in there for a day once I had mixed it with a Sailor blue.

Overall, I am underwhelmed with this ink. I'll probably stick with Sweet Potato Yellow.

Bummer. Thank you for sharing.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Not many inks actually manage to feather on Rhodia paper! That's something of an accomplishment. Though in a bad way.

Maybe there's even the nano advantage that you didn't have to buy a 12-pack of that ink.
