I was unable to edit my other posting about this so I made this one.

Basically I am in need of the clip shown in the image I have attached. This is the same exact cap as on my pen. I also need suggestions on where to go to have the cap returned to its original round shape as it was evidently slightly damaged somehow and is slightly out of round.

In addition to the clip, you will need someone to make you the backing plate and rivets. The clip reattachment is an advanced process. Everyone I can think of that does this repair is not accepting projects at this time.

I do not know the going price for these clips but I'd not be shocked to see a bare clip be 75+ in solid 14kt. Repair on the cap with fixing the shape and attaching the clip will run 100+. Make sure the person that repairs the cap ensures the threads engage properly with the barrel.

I contacted Fountain Pen Hospital and nearly fell out of my chair at the loose estimate of $275 for clip and labor. I'd get a free polish job, though! Lol

That actually doesn't surprise me. A few years ago (3-5) I received an estimate of $175-200 from someone who did this repair (but no longer does.)

Don't feel bad. I'm old; I'm meh about most things.

Not surprised. Good deal even if they have a clip. I was just contacted by someone offering to buy all the 14kt clips I have at 75 each...

David I will keep you in mind for when it is in my budget.

Ironically I had a friend decide to visit today. He is ill and declining. He is a master jeweler and master engraver and runs an annual jeweler and engraver course for a small handful of people who come from all over the world. He taught my fiances father everything he knew and has been engraving for celebrities and instrument companies around the world for years. All by hand.
He saw my pen on the table as well as the 452 sterling silver Waterman I am going to be replacing the sac on for the friend who gave me the gold Waterman 512. He picked them both up and was admiring the engraving on the silver pen, talked to me about how they did it and such. He told me he could either make me a clip or put one on when I find the correct replacement. He also told me how to use one of the lathes in the garage to make the cap round again as well as how to do it by hand. He was telling me how he used to work on a lot of expensive pens and would custom hand engrave nibs for clients. There is a process for pen engraving which creates optical illusions on the pen but I forget what it is called. Apparently he is one of just a few people who can still do it,
