Ancora Pens From Italy

I just saw this older thread and wanted to share that I have an older Ancora  (40/500) with a red barrel.  I have that for over 20 years, as I recall.  I think I inked it only once, and I recall that it wrote quite well. I just received from an Ebay purchase the Ancora Titanic fountain pen (43/88).  I may comment at another time about the details of the pens, but for now I'm providing some representative photos.

First the red one (I forget the model name):

Next, the Titanic:

The nib is a medium in 18K.  I'm not inclined to ink the pen at this point.  The instructions/recommendations that come with the pen urge caution in the care of the wood portions of the pen (came from the Titanic), primarily to avoid getting the wood wet or getting ink on the wood, so the pen is a bit of a "prima donna" in that respect.  On the Ancora website, the pen lists for $1,950, and the Ebay seller (from Latvia, and which is an authorized European seller of Ancora pens) offers it as "buy now" for $1,300, but I went the Ebay auction route and was the first and only bidder at $860.  With tax, the total was $911, which is a very nice price for this pen.  I can't do this everyday, but this seemed like a fantastic and lucky result, as I wasn't planning to increase my bid.

I did get a feel for the nib of the Titanic, and it is very springy and buttery ("like butta", as comedian Mike Meyers channeling his mother-in-law used to say).

Congratulations on your new Ancora. They sell good pens with excellent in-house-made nibs.  But they aren't well in the pen community or show a big amount of OPs besides the prices are in the high segment of the pen world. You found a very good deal on the Titanic.
