Castor Oil Alternatives For Rosin Sealant Recipe?

Are there any suggested alteratives for castor oil in a rosin sealant recipe? Why has castor oil been the default?

Don't know but it might be because caster oil is plant based and most others are petroleum based, or it might be something totally different..

I was wondering if 100% vegetable or olive oil would work the same.

Could have much to do with resistance to going rancid. Castor oil has a lot of industrial applications, though, so I bet there are other properties that make it more suitable than alternatives.
