Hello pen lovers,

I have just found this at my late grandfather's, along with a tarnished and damaged C/F:

It appears to be an ink bottle case. It's marked "Jif" in red on the cap of the case, and there is a spring in the bottom. I searched a little on Google and here, but haven't found much. What can you tell me about such a case ?
I also found the two steel four-coloured ballpoint pens I thought Bic was the first manufacturer ever. Any informations about them?
Thanks you!

JIF stands for Jules Isidor Fayard.

He first was the French distributor for Waterman and produced some overlays on the Waterman pens (like also happened in Italy)

Later Fayard bought into Waterman, and the French company became JIF Waterman, later Waterman SA.

There have been several travelling solutions for ink. I have an old leather covered set myself somewhere.

There were more of these bakelite covers. See on this site, where there are several mentioned.
