Pen Users In Business Meetings

Recommended Posts

I was in a meeting today and saw one of the participants using a fountain pen.

After the meeting we had a chat.

I was using a Duke 960 Crane design.

He told me his pen was a Mont Blanc, it was white with silver finish to the ends of the barrel and cap.

We swapped pens but I could not read the markings on his pen.

We both had a doodle and he said mine was "softer".

It was a good icebreaker and I will be working with the gentleman for the next few weeks.

I hope we get on well together.

Has any one else had a similar experience?

best regards

paul

I have often had it with watches... But, alas, so few Danes use fountain pens... Using a fountain pen in Denmark is a little like wearing a black suit, a "vote conservative" cap or an anti-Facebook shirt.

An anti-Facebook shirt? Do tell -- where can I get one :D

Since everything seems to be distributed using Facebook these days, we will probably have to make our own shirts. Perhaps in Hebrew...

I have had a couple of people comment on the FP use, including one who converted after a quick romp with a Varsity. The experiences have definitely allowed for better rapport.

I end up getting converts at work....hand over a Varsity and tell them to keep it. One of my minyans has even joined Goulet's Ink Drop!

I generally get a puzzled frown when someone says 'can I borrow your pen' and I hand over one of my TWSBIs. One person was totally nonplussed by my TWSBI Mini: "But why would anyone want a pocket fountain pen???"

No one notices or comments on my using a fountain pen. ( i do show them to students and tell them what it is). I sit and draw through faculty meetings and I hear that I am entertaining to sit near, but no one notices my pens.

That would work -- Chinese would work for me also !

Perhaps the anti-facebook thing could be combined with something pro-fountain-pen, like:

I'm not on Facebook

I'm not on LSD either

I'm on FPN

That would probably make people ask some questions...

  • 2 weeks later...

If I'm in meeting in the U.S. people always ask me some kind of question regarding the FPN I might be using. On the other hand in Europe and South America will only ask if the model I'm using is a bit odd and they wish to find out more information about the brand.
