Sheaffer Tuckaway, Need Help With Repairs

I just got a Sheaffer Tuckaway in the mail today and I need some help with repairs. I'm wanting to do the repairs my self but I need help with what to do. The filling system doesn't work, I can't budge the nib and I don't want to break it, and the base of the cap has a gap. Any advice as to how to fix these problems would be appreciated, thank you!

That's really not a great pen for user repairs. The Sheaffer plunger fill is about as difficult a repair as you can find and there are perhaps a dozen folk that do it well. I suggest you contact Gerry Burg, Sherryll Tyree, Pendemonium or Ron Zorn.

If this is the first time you've worked on a plunger-filler: DON'T do it on a pen you like. Get a few junkers and practice on them first before you work on a nice pen. That way, you reduce the chances of destroying a nice pen, AND you will build up a useful parts bin from all the junkers you destroy during the learning period.

I agree. I haven't done really any restoration at all because all of the pens I've bought so far have been mostly working or just needing some parts swapped never a restoration. I'm going to save this one for the pro's because it is in my opinion a beautiful pen. Thank you Gerry Berg. Also are you one of the people that Jar recommended for restoring this pen? If so let me know what you can do to fix this pen.

I will turn my hand to most pen repairs but even I will not touch Sheaffer Vac fillers, send it away to someone who does loads of them, as said above in the world of fountain pen repairs it does not get any harder than a Sheaffer Vac filler.
