Carene Project Looms

What a beautiful deal! Well worth it. I have a Sonnet special edition with a dimple like that on the barrel. Too bad, but the pen is still beautiful as is that Carene. My seller was a grumpy old curmudgeon.

Paid $150 for my amber marine. Would have taken that deal in a heartbeat. Oh, yeah, it's worth it for the parts.

If that is what posting does to your pens, I am glad I don't post....

You could always try an offer backchannel, so to say?

You would have to ask anyway about the nib, says F in one place and M in the other

£50 is way over the top. The section and nib would have to be in very good con for that price.

I bought an almost new one a while back for £40, albeit a small dink in the cap top. The section was mint.

Force, as your next project, have you ever considered plating your pen?

One of the members in the Lamy Forum has just plated one of his pens in Copper, just with some coppersulphate and a batterypack.....

I don't have much use for them, because I am apparently retired unless I can conn someone into hiring me for something in the IT field.

Just finished stubbing a Sheaffer C/C Imperial, broad to broad stub. Pen cost $5 in the 1970s. Finally made something useful out of it, and now . . .

I am very annoyed that my Carenes won't post the cap securely. Dagnabbit, force to use Phillies, Tombraiders and Laureats.

Another gamble....£30.

Listed with very poor pictures and described as broken nib but rest of pen in perfect condition bought for £229. Not sure where or when it was bought for that price.

But I was in need of a barrel and cap only so lets see what arrives.

Well it arrived and it's a long time since I have given a seller a negative feedback.

The barrel and cap were not in perfect condition with three clear lacquer blemishes and the pen itself was just thrown into a jiffy bag with nothing to stop is being damaged further. Whenever I sell an unboxed pen it is rolled in kitchen towel, then fitted into a cardboard tube (from finished cling film or foil) and then into either a box or a jiffy bag.

The nib is bent down and will be replaired but I will be putting a good section on it anyway.

Ah, you got that one! I wondered where it was headed... I looked at it, but I had my eye on a Lady Elsa (that I lost, anyway, damnation).

I looked at it too...did chuck a bid in but only made a £3 difference or so...whenever I see a Carene go cheap, I always wonder if it went to Force :P

Yes sorry guys I had to use eSnipe on it because I was out.

No attempt has been made to straighten the nib so it should be good. Normally I see them badly marked by plier or nose hair pickers.

Just relaxing after my Dads' funeral yesterday...what better way.

It's not easy to get the tines back together once they have been stressed. When manufactured I assume they are severed after forming/pressing/tipping. Bending them back requires that the tines are bent and twisted past each other ar times and I can assure you 18K gold is tough stuff. Plus trying not to mark the nib.

Before,

I am going to term this during because while I think it's as good as I can get it, tomorrows another day.
