so,

another iron gall from Rohrer and Klinger to complement their salix blue:

cool ink, but i have no use for that particular shade, except perhaps in my

journal i use for church, and the exacompta forum journal paper does not

really seem to agree well with this ink (or any of the other iron galls come to

think of it).

I have a bottle arriving tomorrow from Goulet, and I intend to use it alongside Salix for sketching. From what I've seen so far it looks like an intriguing color. But I'll have to experiment to determine which nib works best.

Only my finest nibs do not bleed through on my Exacompta Firum journals. Unfortunately, I bought three of them, plus a journal cover.

agreed. i found that my twsbi 540 xf nib and noodler's aircorp blueblack was a really nice combo for that paper. also, my danitro densho with its fine nib and pelikan brilliant black is decent, but it will bleed a bit in places.

To match the colour of my Edison Purple-Web Celluloid Pearl, I inked up with R&K Scabiosa. This ink & this pen make a perfect match.

Scabiosa shades beautifully when using a juicy bold 1.1mm stub. I have been a great fan of blue/black IG inks. Dusty purple Scabiosa has now become another IG favourite.

*Sailor 1911S, Black/gold, 14k. 0.8 mm. stub(JM) *1911S blue "Colours", 14k. H-B "M" BLS (PB)

*2 Sailor 1911S Burgundy/gold: 14k. 0.6 mm. "round-nosed" CI (MM) & 14k. 1.1 mm. CI (JM)

*Sailor Pro-Gear Slim Spec. Ed. "Fire",14k. (factory) "H-B"

*Kaweco SPECIAL FP: 14k. "B",-0.6 mm BLS & 14k."M" 0.4 mm. BLS (PB)

*Kaweco Stainless Steel Lilliput, 14k. "M" -0.7 mm.BLS, (PB)

I've just cleaned this out of a pen which I felt wasn't getting its fair share of writing. Not because of the ink as I think it's one of the nicest around, in that colour range.

This one needs a really wet pen to shine. I use it in a 1.4mm Minuskin stub with excellent results...the shading is gorgeous.

Usually I stick with blues, and I always need a water resistant ink. I finally caved and decided to try this stuff and I am so happy I did. The performance,water-resistance and unique color has vaulted it to my favorite. This stuff is fantastic!

Hey welcome to FPN - good discussion and good paper too! I haven't added Scabiosa to my ink collection, because it was a dry writer and that made me crazy. I agree it needs a wet pen to really show off.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

I use mostly semi-flex, which is wetter than normal regular flex....that inks is much darker with a wetter pen. It is not so shy.

In reference to P. T. Barnum; to advise for free is foolish, ........busybodies are ill liked by both factions.

Ransom Bucket cost me many of my pictures taken by a poor camera that was finally tossed. Luckily, the Chicken Scratch pictures also vanished.

The cheapest lessons are from those who learned expensive lessons. Ignorance is best for learning expensive lessons.

I find this ink too pale. I use 1 part scabiosa, 1 part solferino, and 1/6th part sepia to get the shade I want, and still benefit from the iron gall water resistance.

Everything is impermanent.

And if you like a nice purple you can mix equal parts Scabiosa and Salix... :)

This is a great ink; both the performance and color. It works great on crappy paper as well as Rhodia. I bought a bottle as soon as I finished my sample from Goulet.

 

The Salix performs as well, but I'm not a huge fan of it's color.

So many inks, so little time...
