I Just Did Something Something Very, Very Stupid...

this has happened to me with my Faber castell basic. the widest part of the f-c converter is the metal ring just below the knob. it is friction fit. so most likely it is that part that is stuck inside the barrel. use some gripping implement (tweezers, pliers...chopsticks? xD) to force it out. most likely the ring will stay inside. I just used a thin rigid metal rod thing (in this case a small screwdriver ) to pry it out of shape so I can pull it out. converter still works just missing the metal band. if you are willing to sacrifice the converter, just use a thin metal rod thing (anything that comes handy) to pry the converter against the barrel thereby deforming it out of shape for easy removal.

edit: oops didnt see your last post

Listen to Gilberto Castaneda!!! It is a brilliant fix. If you can't get a good grip on the screw end, use a pair of pliers to grip and pull the *^&*% thing out.

Some very fine point needle noses might work.

Or like someone else said about the drill bit if you don't care about keeping the converter.

Hey, I got a bit of "leftover stupid". Just for fun, let me try. Worse case scenario, I have a sledge hammer, and

you won't have to watch. Are you in the USA ?

Glad you were able to get the converter out. I hope it gives you happy memories of your academic accomplishments even if it won't write worth a damn.

If it's any consolation to you at all, I had a slide converter stuck inside a Parker Urban. And that was the converter Parker [read Newell/Rubbermaid] sent *me* after I broke a twist converter trying to install it in the same pen and sent it back to Parker under warranty. Needless to say I was underwhelmed. And their response when I sent it back to them again (after a few somewhat heated emails about their customer service and QC) was to send me a new one with a cryptic work order (and a decided lack of interaction in the meantime -- which was one of the things I had complained about to begin with) saying that the barrel on the old pen was "defective". Only of course the nib unit on the new pen leaks from the back of the nib, in spite of how many time I've flushed the darned thing out.
