Noodler's Rome Burning. It is a cool idea, but I haven't taken advantage of the color-changing part of it, and I find the original color is "meh" for me.

Everything else will eventually get used up, and I probably will buy more of it.

Parker Quink Blue, and Noodler's Apache Sunset

Quink fades to nearly invisible in three days, and Apache Sunset hurts your eyes in large doses.

Also Diamine Classic Red because as a High School Student I never use Red.

I have two bottles of Abraxas ink...it's terrible stuff with no redeeming qualities at all. J. Herbin Gris Nuage.

Oh bummer, I've always wanted to go the Castle in the Sky in Berkley and they had Abraxas.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Don't know where to start?  Look at the Inky Topics O'day.  Then, see inks sorted by color: Blue Purple Brown Red Green Dark Green Orange Black Pinks Yellows Blue-Blacks Grey/Gray UVInks Turquoise/Teal MURKY

They don't carry it anymore. I bought mine when they were clearing it out about a year ago. The only other place I have seen it is Landolt Arbenz in Zurich.

I bought a bottle and it's empty now because I gave away samples. It writes just fine, but it's just not as pretty as you might hope.

Ah, they must not carry it because it is lousy.

Do they still have Rubinato?

I have a 7ml sample of it and I wrote with it every other day for the past three weeks. I love this stuff

I'm trying to not finish my bottle of Sailor Jentle Fuji Musume. It's my favorite ink so far, but as it is a discontinued ink, I'm going to try to find a decent replacement or hope that it returns to the market.

Out of all my inks, my least favorite is Dragon's napalm. It's just so blah. I'm worried R&K's Fernambuk is gonna be the same, but I haven't inked a pen with it yet.

Waterman south seas blue. I have many shades of turquoise and this is my least favourite.

It is difficult to finish some of my Diamine inks which came in 30ml bottles, as I cannot get my fat pens into the narrow bottle neck .... I ca, of course use a hypodermic needle to refill converters and cartridges, but that's a bit of a PITA!

I sometimes experiment with mixing the remaining bits together ... I got a very nice brown from Claret + Saddle Brown, neither of which I liked much on its own.

I agree about Herbin 1670 RH ... too high maintenance ... I gave most of mine away.

And I have a full bottle of Delta Yellow/Orange which came with a Dolce Vita pen ... I doubt I will EVER use that.

If you make people think they're thinking, they'll love you; But if you really make them think, they'll hate you.

Today got J. Herbin Rouille D'Ancre. I was I excited about it and it makes me happy to see, but for the life of me can't imagine a practical use for this ink other than doodling. Good thing it comes in 30ml.

All my other inks I am sure eventually will get too because I really like them and find ways to put them at use.

It may take me a few years to polish off my BSB and Purple Martin, but I'm still new enough to the ink collecting/using game (less than a year) that I intend to use all of the bottles of ink I have purchased, most of my purchased samples and the batch of ink recently bequeathed to me by a friend who moved away. That said, ask me again in a couple years. By then I may have crossed the "have more ink than I'll use in a lifetime" threshold.

My ink-swap post(s) become out of date eventually. My signature is always current. If you want to swap some ink, here's what I have: Diamine: Ancient Copper, Oxblood, Poppy Red, Red Dragon, Sherwood Green; Iroshizuku: Kon-peki, Ku-jaku, Take-sumi; Noodlers: 54th Mass, BSB, Purple Martin, X-Feather, Widow Maker; Private Reserve: Blue Suede. I'm partial to highly saturated inks, but am open to suggestions. PM if interested.

Try it in a fatter nib. The finer nibs do not show how this ink is very pretty in LARGE quantities.

Using up a whole bottle?! That's a thing? Huh, here I was under the impression that you simply use a bottle once and then buy a different color, never to use the first one again. At least, that's how I've been doing it so far.

[...] J. Herbin Gris Nuage.

Almost agreed. I have taken to filling a Pelikan M400 BB with it for drafting and it's very wet (read: almost visible) - I can get through a fill in about two days... if only I could go more than one fill before growing an intense dislike for it!

I'm with you on the Dragons Napalm. It's fun to play with for about 5 minutes then it starts to hurt my eyes. I've tried it fine and bold, it's a nice colour but I have no use for it.

  • 2 weeks later...

Lamy Black. I don't use black inks all that much in the first place (until very recently with my Lamy 2K). Lamy Black pales in comparison to blacks such as Aurora Black, Noodler's Black, or Take-sumi. It was my first ink that I purchased along with my Safari back before I knew about the different inks out there.
