Bottles That You Will Never Finish

Too bad there isn't a place to trade unwanted inks here. I've seen some inks that I would happily take off other people's hands.

I'm not quite sure about the bottle of Diamine Racing Green I recently bought. I've only tried it in my Noodler's Konrad, I'll have try it in a couple of different pens before giving up on it completely but so far I'm not loving the color.

Diamine Umber. Its a lovely green, and I enjoy it, but I just don't use green ink that much.

There is some sort of trading thread. I've PMed some and asked. I am totally with you!

I suppose I could list the ones I'm willing to part with and how full they are in my signature area and see what happens.

Dragon's Napalm - can't be mixed, and although I use a bunch of red I'm not sure if i can dedicate a whole FP to it rather than using a cheapo red rollerball (which lays down a redder line anyway!)

I've only purchased two bottles of ink and a bunch of samples. I already know I don't like Pelikan Brilliant Brown...it's more brilliant than brown. I wonder if can throw in a few drops of something else and make it darker. I'd hate to waste it.

I have an almost full bottle of Noodler's Midnight Blue, 25ml of Noodler's Blue Eel, and 40ml of Monteverde Blue that I would be happy to give away to anyone in the US willing to pay the postage ($5).

Inks are spoken for! Thanks!

Diamine Midnight: sheen is annoying

Diamine Onyx: stains my pens

Visconti Turqoise: feathering and too light for my daily use

Noodler's 54th Massachusetts: nibcreep and dissapointingy boring colour.

I don't know what it is about Noodler's 54th Massachusetts. Some days I love it... others, it's just meh. As a student, my paper is always changing. I think I like it more on ink resistant paper with a dryer nib. Idk, it's an odd one.

I sometime use red color too but Sailor Granade only. The other two reds that I got-Omas Red & MB Burgundy Red just sit there.

Probably Sailor Jentle Black. There's nothing wrong with it and I actually think it's a very nice ink, it's just when there's so many interesting options available I don't feel the need to run to a black ink unless it's something very formal (which is rare for me as a student).

I have several bottles of ink I just can't stand, but other people just love them. Noodler's Red Black is one of them. Why? I don't know, it is just flat to me. Diamine Salamander is the same...I had huge expectations of it but I found Calmo Moss Green and R&K Alt Gold-Green so much more to my liking. There are other ones as well. I would love to see an ink bottle exchange.

I have sometimes added a drop or three of black (Pelikan Brilliant Black is a good mixer) to blue inks that were not to my liking (too pale or too purple) to make something usable. Give it a go and you may end up with a rich dark brown you like (but go easy on the black at first).

Waterman Havana Brown. I just don't care much for brown inks. I even bought R&K Sepia, thinking it'd be a bit more grey than brown...but I'm still even struggling with that.

Some green or blue in Pelikan Brown might make all the difference (I suspect I still remember Mrs Bird, our art teacher, berating anyone who added black to make something darker...) I have a Waterman's Junior that loves the stuff but I'm still not sure so I'm currently conducting experiments (off and on) on ways to make it so we both like it. Alternatively add some red; that's all that seems to be separating it from being a dead-ringer for Diamine Ancient Copper.

This seems to have become inks that you won't finish because you don't like them, which I'm not sure was what the OP intended. But alas, I have one of same - Noodler's Prime of Commons. Way over saturated, feathers on glass, and it is no way blue black; it's green. An all-round disappointment to me, really. Cured me of all desire for these (UK-wise) hen's teeth inks though, so that's probably a blessing.

Cheers, Al

Probably Noodler's Black. I thought it was a practical color to have but that's pretty much why I'm not getting a lot of use from it. There are so many fun colors to use. :)
