Gorgeous, Josey!

My life is full of mistakes. They're like pebbles that make a good road.

Got three more of the new ones today, along with a skirting leather cover (much stiffer, but still very pliable) and I have to say that some how the second generation notebooks are even nicer than the first. These have pretty much become my go to for EVERYTHING.

I kinda wish I had gotten the skirting leather cover instead, even though I adore my kip cover.

I am so obsessed, writing in my Seven Seas journal is 1000000x nicer than writing in any other notebook I've tried. I've become absolutely evengelical about this journal! It's funny, because the two main complaints I've heard about Tomoe River paper - see-through and dry times - I've barely noticed at all.

Why? Do you think the kip leather is too floppy? For example could you write with your journal in your lap or do you need a table? Thanks for your feedback, I am considering kip vs skirting covers.

Actually, because I only use fountain pens in the journal, and use a light hand, I have no problem writing with the journal in the kip cover on my lap. It's more that I much prefer hardcover journals, and the skirting leather cover sounds like it's closer in stiffness. It's definitely not a super-floppy cover.

(Also, I'd have preferred the darker color of the skirting leather instead of having to stain my kip cover; I love how it turned out, but it took a lot of effort!).

You folks are driving me wild--the Gfeller covers are out of stock and I'm itching in the worst way to have one for my Seven Seas A5. Does anyone know when they'll be back in stock? And yes, I'm one of the ones who loves the LINED Tomoe River paper!

I've got one of each, and I like both for different reasons. If I had my way about it, they would make a black or Havana brown Kip cover for me, and I would be buying a third. I love the softness of the Kip cover.

Got my Tomoe River journal a few months ago and I'm terrified to write in it. But I've decided that tomorrow is the day. In the meantime, I leave you with it's washi taped loveliness.

Anyone willing to comment on the second edition of Seven Seas a few months on? I've put one on my Christmas wish list, and may have to get one for myself if Santa doesn't!

I'm also considering a Hobonichi Cousin cover for it. The size should be perfect.

I haven't any experience with Seven Seas, but I've gotten the A5 from PaperforFountainpens.com and I love it. I actually also have one from Mr Yoshino and plan on carrying both so I can keep my drawings separated from note taking.

No feathering, bleed through and the paper is as smooth as can be. Probably the only two minor issues are that it needs to be broken in so it can lay flat and the you may get impressions from the previous page's writing. You can't beat the price and fast shipping.

I am planning on using both in this leather folio by BroLeather on Etsy, enjoy:

I have the first edition and am wondering if anyone else shares my view. I find the line spacing, 7mm, to be a little on the narrow side and the a5 size is abit small. I am not criticizing it but merely i think my less than ideal review is due to the fact that i use Bb and bb stubs on it. Prior this i was using rhodia dot pad. Its A4 sized and 5mm spacing (writing on 2 lines) just kind of gives me the feeling of more freedom, more spacious, if it makes sense. Other than that, the book is well made and the paper is to die for. I've got the blank note book from Justwrite and will try that...if it works out maybe I'll get the blank version 2.

Is the buckram cover an integral part of the notebook? Ie: I plan on buying the Gfeller leather cover as well, so my question is : does it go on top and around the original cover, or do you throw it away?

Thanks,

-k
