Gads, I certainly would have gotten samples, had they been available! Someone said that the Akkerman inks are simply repackaged Diamine. Well, I've read that Diamine inks are "well behaved" (I LOVE that expression applied to inks! It always makes me smile. What do you do when an ink is badly behaved? Leave the bottle in full sunlight until it comes to its senses? No, that's cruelty. I know, set the bottle next to colors that clash! Then it's not harmed, but merely uncomfortable. And then when it behaves well, you put it with harmonious colors. :-)

I have a couple of bottles of Diamine ink, and I do like them a lot. So far they have shown no tendency towards mischief.

*ahem*

So... I ordered two bottles of the Akkerman inks (in those cute little bottles); I'll give my opinion about what color they're closest to (relative to the inks in my personal stash, that is) after I've had a chance to play with them. I ordered the Oranje Boven and Treves Turquoise. I was *this* close to getting the Hofkwartier Groen... and the Parkpop Purper... and

When I bought my first bottles, I sold samples of the inks. They aren't the same as Diamine. They are made by Diamine and they are similar, but they really do seem to be different. If it isn't too late, add the other two bottles. The biggest cost is shipping. They are worth the money. They are well behaved inks.

Oh, here are some fills from this morning.

BTW, this color is very similar to my favorite ink, Blue Steel by Dromgooles. Inky below is the Noodler's/Dromgoole's Blue Steel.

Okay, I admit, I have never gotten this one to actually show a sheen, but others swear by it.

And this is a wonderful color! Another ink that others have gotten to sheen.

Okay, thanks. I would LOVE to add the other two bottles, but I'm ordering via Sinistral1's group buy, and she only had two spots left. It's possible I'll get others at a later date.

And thanks for letting me know that they are well behaved. :D

Oh, well, that's perfect! The thing is to not order on your own and only get 2 inks. I think we may be able to "con"vince her to try this again if we aren't too whiney.

Perhaps after a suitable interval (during which time I should have managed to squirrel away more discretionary funds, presumably... interesting expression, "squirrel away", eh? I like it.)

and the dust has settled from this time... so let's hope it all goes very smoothly for her, so she won't have developed an antipathy towards such activities! I spoke with her on the telephone; she's a really sweet person.

Sinistral1 is currently undergoing rehabilative therapy after finally getting her order for 30 bottles and one pen wipe in to Akkerman this morning. She screwed up and ordered two pen wipes and only 29 bottles of ink and is waiting for Akkerman to return her frantic emails to get the order corrected. Towards the end, she felt very much like the purser who was in charge of loading the life boats on the Titanic. Hense the therapy. The nine spots were snapped up pretty quickly, but at the very end she had four requests and only two spots left, so she asked the earlier people if they would give up one of their spots so that everyone could have at least one bottle, and in true FPN fashion, two members stepped up to the plate and hit the proverbial grand slam. Sinistral1 is extremely glad of her previous experiences in the military working in helicopter flight operations and knowing how to manage the activities and whereabouts of 12 aircraft and their crews. She has mentioned to the medical professionals now taking part in her recovery that she felt like she had fought a battle with emails and ink instead of traditional weapons, and has requested (in triplicate) to be awarded the FPN battle cross with a four pen cluster. The PENtagon is considering her request.

You don't still need for people to do only one bottle, do you? Because I could wait for the second one...?

But, wow. Your description of the process has me *almost* speechless with admiration. You have a way with words! Wow.

Bloch - It's all good. Thank you for your offer, but it's taken care of.

Edited to add: Even heard back from Paul at vulpen and he's fixing my error at no extra cost. It sure makes it easier to have such a nice person handling things on the other end!

Edited again to add: Faith and begorra! 'Tis Saint Patrick's Day and this lass is Irish! Us Irish are known for our wit and our gift of gab, and I've even been to that Blarney castle and kissed the stone! To be sure, I was jest funnin' with ya, and spiced my tale up a little to give it more flavor.

I noticed that! I couldn't find my acceptance speech, but give me a moment or two and I'll come up with just the right words to express my humble appreciation to all the people who made this all possible. We few, we happy few, we band of inky writers....

Edited to add: All kidding aside, it has been fun putting this together, and I have to thank Amberlea for her help and support. I might even be talked into doing another one. Maybe.
