Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

It looks like my ad in classifieds was removed, so I'll post here that we're going to do a sub-regional version of the Great North American Akkerman Group Buy here in the Twin Cities - Minneapolis/Saint Paul, Minnesota.

We have enough bottles to get the better shipping cost, so they will be approximately $22 each. We're saving money by not re-shipping. You will need to pick up your ink in either Midway St Paul, Eagan or Edina. Send me a PM if you are interested. Ted A is my partner in crime on this - it was actually his idea!

Ordering could take place any day now, so let me know if you want in!

Edited to add: Yikes! I wish I knew how to make pictures smaller, this is embarrassing!

Breathe. Take one step at a time. Don't sweat the small stuff. You're not getting older, you are only moving through time. Be calm and positive.

These smaller bottles are even more vintage looking to my eye than the bigger ones. Let's see, next trip to Europe: France for the bread and pastries (and wine, of course), Germany for the wurst and beer, Belgium for the fruit beer and chocolate, and the Netherlands for bottles of ink! It's doable.

And the cheese...sigh...don't forget the cheese...oh and licorice!

What kind of licorice. It is very important.

With the new FPN rules, now I REALLY don't know what to put in my signature.

Very interesting and enjoyable thread. I have yet to be able to try any of the Akkerman ink but there are some nice colors. I agree with the post regarding value. It is a little comical that folks who use pens costing hundreds (or even thousands) of dollars with custom ground nibs, imported stationary, and various sundry accessories are having a Walmart discussion regarding value prices of ink.

For most of us, a little ink goes a long way. And it's the one part that allows for a good bit of personal expression (color, feathering, accentuates the attributes of the nib,etc.).

So a couple of bucks for postage --- does it really make that much difference in the long run?? Just saying...

But would the thread be nearly as interesting and enjoyable if we weren't all obsessing so much about the price?

And pindakaas! And sambal!

and the gin, vermouth and olives (best bought in three different countries).

That makes me wonder: how many miles or kilometres are written with one bottle, given an average nib? And what would be the average costs per mile then?

Don't know, but with a R&K ink I can write 3,5 times more kilometers as with the new Akkerman for the same money. ... Just saying. ;)

Oh, you guys are so silly! That mileage figure is only if you're writing in a straight line - and I for one enjoy doing as many loops and hairpin turns as I can create.
