I tried The Pen Shop in Liverpool Street but they have no knowledge of this ink being reissued. Have to look online for a bottle.

I just got off the phone from customer service of Montblanc North America who told me that while the ink was redesigned to improve the quality, the original ink was not withdrawn due to any deleterious effect on pens. Rather there was a a gap in stocks until the reformulated ink could be made and distributed, but is now readily available. I was assured that I could continue to use my old stock of violet without concern. I hope this helps.

I got additional word from a MB representative that the issue was not a clogging issue as some seemed to think, but rather the new formulation has superior color sustainability.

Great info, thanks for posting

Now If my Mb dealer could receive their shipment....

For those close to Montreal, the Laval Montblanc boutique has received some Lavender purple.

Great CS too. About a month ago I bought some Irish Green from them and asked to be notified when they would have some Purple. I got a call this morning ( on a Sunday!) and a charming lady took my order. Their site is not updated yet but you can always drop them a mail or call and they will take your order.

No affiliation whatsoever, (I wish :) )

I have been looking online at the MB website. No sign of it. BUT it arrived at Dromgoole's today.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

MB serviced my 146 and changed the barrel without charge (normally a GBP56 item) because they said that the old Lavender ink had caused a problem.

The nib clogged up too.

Try Old Bond Street or Canary Wharf boutiques in London. They will send it by mail order to you

Please show us a copy of that correspondence. And please provide the name of the person and the address or location of the person who told you this Did the person infer that this particular ink is a problem as opposed to user error such as letting ink dry out in the pen? If it is the former I can then send the copy of the correspondence to the MB rep I talked to in the US who said it did not have a clogging issue. If it is the latter situation (user error), any ink can cause a clog.

They are misinformed. The ink never caused me any issues.

They also exchanged my old stocks of the ink for the new 2018 ink without question.

It's a good ink. I use it at my job in alt ed where I grade student work packets on different colored papers. I've tried red and green but both look horrible on some of the papers which can be either hot and cold colors. The lavender, which is a blend of a hot and a cold color, works well on all the papers, and I have been very pleased with this solution to the problem. I've been using it in a very nice-writing Parker 51 Special desk pen, a Platinum 3776 and a Franklin- Christoph purple pen (remember the naming contest?--My suggestion was grape yogurt, but it didn't take.) I've had not problem with the pen, but I hope there is not a problem lurking. I bought two bottles last year and have plenty left, but I wonder if I should try to exchange the ink.

I doubt very much that they would withdraw and destroy all of their stocks of a particular ink, replace customers stock with new ink, and service pens for free if they hadn't spotted a problem. Maybe you were just lucky, or it was just the pen you used it in.

I'm still using my old bottles of Violet without issue so I don't have any experience with Lavender Purple. However, there was this thread a while back about slime and clogging: https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/index.php/topic/253973-slime-in-lavender-purple-ink-cartridges/?do=findComment&comment=2796080

Beechwood, can you reply to my request?

No evidence of a clogging issue yet from MB. I'd like to know if there were, but I have been using violet for years in several pens without any probkems. In fact, it is one if the best flowing MB inks i have used. And as i mentioned in an earlier thread, the USA MB rep, whose name is Miriam Messer, denied any clogging issue and said it was safe to continue its use,.

I always help with requests. Demands get left on the shelf.

However, and to repeat myself, my 146 had poor ink fllow after one month of old lavender in, I took iit to MB who said it was clogging due to the ink and needed a deep clean. It went away to MB and came back with a new barrel.
