My sister got 2 bottle, one full and unopen and one almost full. I did manage to steal a bit of her ink when i was at her place. :)

It's a beautiful color.

this ink was withdrawn because of quality issues (clogging nibs.) When a company releases a defective product they need to comply with the law:customers who purchased such a defective product should be compensated for this financial inconvenience. Montblanc should do the right thing: either reimburse those with the older ink or replace it with the new product.

Please share your proof of the quality issue. This is the first time I've heard this. I've used the original formulation and have no issues. In fact, it's one of the more free flowing MB inks.

I thought everyone on here knew that Montblanc had withdrawn Lavender Purple. There were many threads about it at the time.

They confirmed it was withdrawn at several London boutiques that I asked, and so did Montblanc online.

But what was the reason? Sometimes an ink is ended because there is a change of supplier or decrease in popularity for example. I hadn't heard anyone on FPN complain of problems with this ink.

Take your bottle of lavender purple to a MB boutique and they will happily replace it with a new one.

I'm still interested to see documentation of this alleged quality issue, because it's at variance with my experience and others here. And does it apply to "violet" or the "lavender"?

I agree. The claim that there were quality issues with the previous formulation strikes me as unfounded and spurious.

I understand the previous purple was refomulated and then rereleased last year. When I went in to the my local boutique to buy some they told me all the bottles were recalled and not currently available for purchase from MB. Last I looked it was not on the website. I did order soem on line from an authorized dealer so it is somewhat available still.

Next time I go to the boutique I'll try to get more clarification on the relaunched color.

Yes it applied originally to the old Violet. Then it applied to the first version bottle of Lavender.

I don't think there are any quality issue documents generally floating around. If Montblanc Head Office tells you it's withdrawn due to a quality issue then that's good enough for me.

The latter would be good enough for me too, please relate that info.

I believe I just did.....

I didn't realize you had personally got the word from MB HQ. I sent them a query today. Hopefully will get a response.

Is the Lavender Purple coming in cartridges? I am still a bit nervous about using the bottled ink.

Yes. These were available in the boutique.

I just got off the phone from customer service of Montblanc North America who told me that while the ink was redesigned to improve the quality, the original ink was not withdrawn due to any deleterious effect on pens. Rather there was a a gap in stocks until the reformulated ink could be made and distributed, but is now readily available. I was assured that I could continue to use my old stock of violet without concern. I hope this helps.
