Well, I don't expect it. I've never seen the nib off of a Snorkel like that. Usually the nib+feed+collar assemblies stay intact. You an't get the collar off and use an adhesive to secure the nib to the collar?

I know my id is "mhosea", but you can call me Mike. It's an old Unix thing.

WARNING

That is goina be a difficult search.

The problem is, there appears to have been several DIFFERENT sizes/threads used on the section.

So you will need to try different sections (trial and error) till you find one that fits on both ends.

I have a snorkel that the section shrank, and had to be cut apart to salvage the pen. Both of my other snorkels do not match the thread on that section. So I am in a similar situation, looking for a replacement section, or the pen turns into a parts pen for repairing other snorkels.

BTW, I would not expect the thread to strip, unless it was mistreated.

The threading may not be stripped but that ding in it might be what's doing it. The section on the underside of the nib where it meets the grip seems to leak some ink, so when I'm writing I get a small amount of ink on the finger I have the pen resting on. I'm not completely sure if it needs to be cleaned better but every time I use the pen it will be fine for awhile then it starts leaking right there.

Try thread sealant when you screw on the nib assembly.

The nib mount unscrews from the section to replace the point holder gasket. The threads can strip if the nib was over tightened or the nib was cross threaded when the nib was screwed on again. The collar on the standard nibs can stretch over time, and on occasion needs to be replaced so that the nib and feed won't wiggle.

I can repair the pen for you - and have NOS parts in stock to do so. (sorry, the supply is finite so I don't sell just the part). The new shop is taking gradually taking on form, so we hope to be up and open for new repairs on Feb. 10th. 2014.

I ended up finding another pen on ebay for really cheap I'm hoping the part matches up. Thank you Ron Z. Do you have any idea of about how much it would cost for you to repair the pen?

Thank you everyone for the replies. The pen I ordered I ended up being able to swap parts. I didn't take pictures of the new part, but I'm pretty happy to have fixed my pen!

Well you are lucky that the pen parts interchange.

As I mentioned, I have pens where the parts do NOT interchange.

Here they are in all of their glory. The nib on the new one I got which is the blue Valiant is garbage but everything else is perfectly functional. I picked it up for $20
