Are These Things Like Clothes Hangers?

I am starting to wonder if these things are like wire clothes hangers - multiplying on their own while my back is turned.

I got an Eight Ball. I think it came in with some other stuff I bought on ebay. I really do. And then I wanted one desk pen for it.

I now have four Estie desk pens here on my desk, one plain black Estie that lacks a cap and might like to be thought of as a desk pen, and another bona fide desk pen coming in the mail.

I have the Eight Ball. I have another Eight ball lacking the plastic part - I stuck a bead with a hole just the right size in there. I wrapped up a piece of black foam to fill in the neck of a very small vase for a third one. A fourth is in some other brand of pen holder - no, that's the Sengbush, I had to put it somewhere...

Everywhere I turn there is an Estie desk pen...

I am going to have to open a hotel.

One on the desk in every room.

It is my destiny.

Yes, and the addiction just gets worse.

The proper medical term is 'condition', you have or are in a condition. It is not an addiction since you can quit at any time.

PS

If you start selling organs to buy more you should seek medical help--they can often get you a premium with good insurance.

Nobody needs more than one desk pen. You are referred to the "Therapy" subforum.

(I think the therapist has a large collection of desk pens.)

I guess I need extensive therapy...

My mother only needed one desk pen, a Sheaffer. I bought several Sheaffer Imperial desk sets when a stationery store was closing them out in the late 1970s.

I bought a few Cross desk sets on ebay

I even bought three Esterbrook desk pens.

Generally I put caps on them and carry them to work.

Parker 51 caps work for the Sheaffers, and 51 demi caps for the Esterbrooks. A better use than on 51 Vacs, anyway. Poor demis. Consigned to the parts bin.

This is good to know. Now all I have to do is find a 51 demi cap... Will these fit the regular Estie as well? I do have that one with no cap at all...

The story behind the carved cat: When I was an art teacher, an art teacher from another school offered to trade some cedar wood for the use of my loom. I agreed and she took the loom and later delivered four or five dead cedar trees. Only one had enough heart wood to do much with and none of the students wanted to do all the sawing necessary to get down to it. After a few years with no one wanting to use the wood, I took it and cut out the dark heart and that chunk was about all there was to the whole tree. I carved the cat, using my cat as the model and I made it curled up and sleeping because there wasn't enough wood to make it stretched out unless I made it long and small and thereby would have wasted a lot of the wood I worked a week to extract from that &^%*(& tree. The rest of the trees got tossed out eventually.

And the end of all our exploring

Will be to arrive where we started

And know the place for the first time. TS Eliot

Love cedar and cats, so I figure you got the best out if that deal even if the lazybones let the rest go to waste. So touchable looking!

Ah Esterbrook, the crack of fountain pens. Or is that Lay's? Betcha can't have just one :happycloud9:

Esterbrooks are Methadone for 51s. Unfortunately I now take both...

It doesn't help that even when there's hardly a description or mention of condition, I haven't managed to get a single Estie with a cracked barrel, striped threads, damaged lever etc. these darn things are WELL made!!

They are! I just recently got my favorite one yet. It's a gray early transitional with the three ribs on top and is in beautiful condition. The seller polished it up and it practically glows.
