Delta for me, thank you! - And after doing a little work on the nibs you can even get them to write. :)

Hi,

As I probably said in the Japanese pen forum, it is really hard for me to choose a favourite pen. In this case, it is hard for me to choose a favourite Italian pen. I think my favourite is the Aurora Optima mini. It's such a nice comfortable size and one of the best mini piston-filled pens I've had. I love the Aurora Optima full size. The feed is so well made, and the I love how the gold nib is so stiff. It has such a nice feed. The pen is so comfortable to hold. I really like the Aurora Madamin. It is another really excellent mini piston-filler, and it's just as good as the Optima mini. It's the little sized sister of the Aurora 98 and 88. I also really love the Aurora 88p. It is one of my favourite vintage pens. Mine has a stiff nib, and it writes so well. I also love the cartridge-converter Aurora 98. I have two, and they are so nice to use. They look nice, and write so well. Finally, I really enjoy the Italian safety pen I have. It's such a nice, reliable pen. I bring it with me from time to time, and I can't put it down once I pick it up. Finally, The Aurora Hastil I have has one of the most unique nibs I've seen. Mine writes so well, and I love the slimness of the pen.

Well, actually, this also turned into here are all my Italian pens and what I like about them. I don't have OMAS anymore. I don't think the metal trimmings are always finished that well. I love how they write though. Aurora makes their own nibs, and I love stiff nibs the best.

1.Omas Paragon Celluloids, I have so many I need to update my photos, the new vintage reissue are great and value too.....

2. Visconti LE

3. Chatterley Oro's and any of Bryant Delta LE's. How can you go wrong his taste and adjustment to styling like 8 nibs and hand cut ebonite feeds is pure genius. And it is the same size and feel as the 139 size at a fraction of the cost.....

+1 for Italian pens.....so many great ones out there....

As for specifics.....here's a few examples, not ranking them in order as they're all great pens...listing alphabetically therefore...

- Aurora - the Talentum I had once was a very good pen for the price....good value and writer....

- Deltas - Especially Bryant's Chatterley LE's as sarahfar said...found them very well made, handsome looking, good writers (especially after nibmeister ground them to italic for me...), and excellent piston mechanism

- Marlen - Had a few in the past, very nice pens...good value....

- Montegrappas - Had a bunch in the past, all great, but especially love the Extra 1930 with big nib/ebonite feed, great writer, beautiful celluloid, and vintage look....makes me almost forgive Monte for the crazy cap threads.....

- OMAS - Extra and Extra Lucens (vintage and modern) and Paragon celluloids, great pens, but they're all a bit too slender for me....)

- Stipula - Especially love the Etruria line with the gold nibs...great looks and excellent writers....

- Tibaldi - Shoulda kept the ones I had some time ago....great pens and nibs....Iride, Impero, Modello 60, and Divina

- Visconti - Especially the Van Gogh Maxi pens, great colors and nibs, great value....Opera I had was nice too....

Of the Italian pens I still own, I would have to say one or the other of these two:

Omas Arlecchino - factory F nib removed and stored. Replaced with a factory (but not-Arlecchino correct) BB nib ground to a stub by PB2.

Omas Galileo - factory B nib ground to a Binder Italifine

I traded away a old-style Omas Arco last year, which may have been my all-time favorite Italian pen. However, the pen it was partial-trade for is also a fantastic pen (Urushi Emperor) so I don't feel too bad. ;)

Don't feel bad. I'm old; I'm meh about most things.

I finally got my Delta Blue Moon filled. It's a fine pen. Easy to write with. But my heart is still with Visconti Homo Sapiens. I like the ink window in the Delta. Got a catalog today showing the Aurora Oceania. Another Italian pen maker with lovely looking fountain pens. My vote is still with Visconti as I have an eye on the Purple Nebulus Cosmos . I really like Visconti's stub nib.

Its a difficult question. I have Omas, Aurora, Ancora, Montegrappa, Delta, Visconti, Stipula, Nettuno, Marlen.

I think I will stay with the Paragons from the 90's.

I have an Aurora (modern) Otantotto, gold furniture, that is the best pen I have ever written with. I can only describe it as a stunning classic fountain pen. I also have an Aurora Talentum, fabulous yellow resin, with rhodium furniture. Piu meglio di tutti!
