Flushing Ink From Twsbi Vac700 Easy?

I'm considering buying a TWSBI vac700. Seeing as I'm mostly using ink samples for my writing, the ease and speed of cleaning ink out from my new pen in order to use new inks is an important consideration. I certainly understand that the vacuum filling system of the vac700 would allow one to cycle water through the barrel and feed quickly. However, wouldn't the fact that you can only get a partial fill of water by depressing the filling rod result in more inconvenience than help for cleaning it since you can't flush water through the whole body of the pen? What are peoples' experience with cleaning ink out of the vac700?

It's a piece of cake. "Getting a partial fill" isn't the same as saying that you wouldn't get water to the entire interior of the pen, not to mention not being able to shake it up as much as you want with each change of water; you can.

 

If you're using something like BSB and really, really have to scrub the whole thing out, don't forget that Twsbi includes a wrench and silicone grease (more like oil than a thick grease, actually). A few seconds taking the whole thing apart, including nib and feed, and you've got the pen as clean as the day if came off the assembly floor. Or line. There's nothing fiddly or tricky about it at all, just follow the pictures.

 

That said, it takes me a *long* time to go through a full fill of ink, espcially with the one with the EF nib. Cleaning the pens to the very complete satisfaction of my dark little OCD'ish heart takes just a few minutes.

It's pretty easy, even if water doesn't go all the way to the top as you load the pen, the piston acts like a squeegee and wipes the sides down. It's also really fun pumping water in it over and over, the mechanism is just so cool. And you can always disassemble it for thorough cleanings.

Oh, good point! I'd not considered that. I guess it's the same as a piston filler in that way: you can't get a complete fill of the barrel easily with water, but the piston still drives the ink down the barrel to be flushed and diluted out.

You could also remove the section completely and fill the barrel manually with water. I find a few pumps will clean the pen out of any ink. Any residue is minute enough that I can live with it, or if I want I can completely take the pen apart with the included wrench.
