In Need Of A Durable Red Ink And A Blue Ink

Recommended Posts

I am in need of a durable red ink and a blue ink which can survive 50 or more years written inside a book. It does not need to be light fast and water resistant is a big plus. I say water resistant because it does not need to be water proof. Just if a splash of water hits it it'll still be legible.

An example is Noodler's Bulletproof Black because it is an achievable ink and could survive taking a little splash of water water.

I have done some research on the reds and Noodler's Empire Red seems good for the red but I have no idea how I would get my hands on it and I do not want to order it from within the continental of the USA. Does anyone have any thoughts about this ink, because if this is the only route available then it's the only route available? Or is there an alternative which you might suggest?

I have also some research on the blues and Noodler's Upper Ganges Blue seems good for the blue but I am worried about the bleed through. Does anyone have thoughts about this ink or do you think that this is a good pick?

So I am asking is there a red ink and a blue ink which can survive 50 or more years? And is there one which can survive 50 or more years and is water resistant.

Have you looked at Noodle's Fox Red? Same/similar properties to Noodle's Bulletproof Black. I find it to be a true red.

Here are some images from the 2012 fade experiment. These papers were posted in the direct sunlight in Las Vegas for four months during the summer. http://sheismylawyer.com/INK/attachments/04-2012-10-14_01.jpg

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Here is a link to the spreadsheet with results.

You can see results of the 2012 test here at FPN or on my old website. Go to completed experiments.

That you for the references. Will definitely be looking up Noodler's Fox, Tienanmen, and Antietam.

You are welcome. Don't forget to look at the website and not just the few images I posted. You will get some good ideas.
