Hey just curious if you guys have tried Noodler's bulletproof black in a piston filler and whether it'd be okay to use

You're better off posting this as a new post in the "First Stop" Forum to get better results on the question, but with my experience in the Pilot CH92, I have not had a problem with the piston filler. I would usually swab a small amount pure silicon grease to ensure the seal around the actual piston doing the work if u can disassemble the pen.

I used Parker Quink and Sheaffer's Skrip from high school thru college.

Maybe black is boring but it did just fine for me.

I've never been offended by people stating their ages.

I thought FPN was open to young and old alike.

It's not offense, it's worry for their safety. It's bad to get into the habit of putting real personal information on the public internet.

Welcome!

I would say go for the other coloured inks, they're great for note-taking or other activities, school and homework only take up about a quarter to half of 24 hours :P.

I've gotten lucky with *Some* Walmart notebooks and paper, but a certain brand might as well be tissue paper with how it shows the ink in the back. Great, thick, bright white, and widely available with a wide choice of paper for the average ballpoint, pencil, and fine-tip users, but not for us. If you can, use notebooks as much as possible, as you'd have a lot wider of a variety of FP friendly paper. I've gotten lucky to have a motherload of very cheap line paper that only ghosts stored in my garage, so I can't help you line paper wise.

So my dad got into fountain pens, and the first thing I did was of course steal all of them. He bought me the two I'm using now so I can't recall the brand, but I have a flex nib and a narrow nib. They're good quality and durable thankfully- I'm the only one in my high school who uses fountain pens and people are constantly asking to borrow them, I worry myself sick watching them hold the pen upside down or perpendicular to the paper! Anyway, I'm brand new to this website, and am admittedly mostly here because I have some birthday money to blow, and what sixteen year old wouldn't promptly spend it on noodlers ink?

I know there are a lot of newbies looking for help currently, but I"ll gladly take any advice or general tips, I've been casually using fountain pens since 15 and would like to get more serious about them.

My main question, however, is whether or not it's worth it to get more than the standard blue and black and red ink (I do have anti feather and two shades of blue) when I'm in high school and would only be able to use colors for out of class activities (darn you public school- stifiling my creativity!), and which colors or styles of ink are known for being the most beautiful/usable on walmart college ruled paper. Right now I'm flirting with noodlers ink, but there's just so much variety!

Welcome here.

I also find it disturbing when my colleagues pick my pen up and try it out on their hands to check the writing. And every time I have to stop them and push towards them a piece of paper. And oh how they tell me not to spend so much on fountain pens and go for use and throw ball pens instead. :wallbash:

Now I only take my Parker Vector or Baoer to work.

Inkwise, I'd say go nuts. But I am personally in love with Waterman havana.

I have used Waterman inks on cheap papers (even old news papers with medium tips). They didn't feather.

Also if you forget the brand of your pen, the leaders are here to identify them for you. :)
