"clickable" Ballpoint Pens

UK Mike, Paul Raposo and Parker51's ideas are good additions.

You should definitely check out some of Parker's finer BPs like the 45, 75 and the Classic (especially in the sterling silver cisele finish).

Another vote for the Karas Kustoms offering. The Schmidt easyFLOW refill is the smoothest I have used. (compared to Parker Quink, Parger G2, and Pelikan G2 style refills.)

I'll throw a few suggestions into the ring here:

  • Parker Jotter
  • Vintage Parker 75 Cisele
  • Rotring 600
  • Rotring Initial
  • Fisher Space Pen

Any of those should do just fine.

Collection Counts: Cross-4, Esterbrook-15, Eversharp-1, Graf von Faber-Castell-1, Jinhao-2, Kaweco-1, Lamy-6, Levenger-2, Monteverde-1, Pilot/Namiki-3, Noodler's-1, Parker-18, Rotring-10, Sailor-1, Sheaffer-19, TWSBI-1, Visconti-4, Waterford-1, Waterman-7

Favorite Inks: Diamine, Levenger, Private Reserve, Noodler's Lexington Gray

I work in a pharmacy, and I would say that 95% of the staff of close to 75 people exclusively write with Parker Jotters. When I first started working at this company, I was kind of befuddled by this, until I finally broke down and bought one... I still carry it with me every day at work, even though I pretty much use FPs exclusively at this point, because anytime a coworker asks to borrow a pen, they are expecting a Jotter, and will likely turn their nose up at anything less! (and be clueless if handed a fountain pen...)

Brings back memories... My late father was a pharmacist (degreed in 1939); worked in retail pharmacies all his professional life post WWII. Loved his Parker Jotter until his hands developed a touch of RA at which time he moved over to a Dr Pen with the cushion grip. Yep, the Jotter is a classic for sure!

The Pentel Sterling Elite B460 ballpoint pen is a mostly metal pen with a rubberised grip and enough weight to keep it stable in the hand. It takes Parker-type refills (the Quinkflow types are really good) or the Pentel XKFLT8A2 refills (which are also really good).

I bought mine at the local Woolworths more than ten years ago and am still using it; and recently I've acquired a few more off Fleabay, Just In Case. Woollies doesn't do them any more, to my everlasting sorrow.

love the jotter, but how about some love for its erstwhile competitor, the papermate profile (metal top, colored plastic bottom, slim or regular). lubriglide and knock-off refills are still readily available at office stores. also consider the more rare bic citation (similar design), which takes bic clic refills. lastly, though not a clicker, a fisher space pen will allow you to take your notes at any angle--handy when you're on the go.

Vintage Parker Jotter with brass threads. No contest.

The "click" is super-satisfying.

Plenty of third-party re-fills.

The balance is perfect.

If you don't mind the body, try Zebra Sasara or Uni-Ball Jetstream, smoothest rollerballs/ballpoints that I know of.

DIY Retractable Fountain Pen (Couldn't get it to work, now refilling Schmidt 888 M refills with FP inks in a Pilot G2 Limited, the ceramic roller tip is as smooth as a Firm FP steel nib, Poor Man's VP I guess)

I find the Rotring RapidPro ballpoints to be great; at $40 retail, the knurled grip is great to grasp, and the knock has a solid feel.

I stick with Parker pens that click or the M200/M400 sized Pelikans- The original jotters were designed to rotate the refill with every click to even the wear

Pelikan K200 and K400, a little wider barrel than Jotter, and Jotter.

Bic M10, only a cheap basic pen but a real classic.

Parker-format refill is the best. Parker was late to market with a ballpoint, but they solved all the technical problems in previous biros/ballponts. The Parker refill is a marvel...the original Parker T-ball Jotter will take any current Parker-format refill. I have a P-51 ballpoint, made in the late 50s. Works fine.

- Parker Frontier, brushed metal. All steel, with rubber grip. I've used the same Frontier for the last 14 years.

- Parker Jotter, stainless steel

- Rotring 600

- Pelikan ballpoint

(The Sonnet ballpoint and the classic Cross extend by twisting the cap. Non-click)

I agree with this and also like the Lamy 2000 BP, though it is wider.
