Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

Wow, what a pretty blue... and I like how you've shown the different blues together. Very helpful!

Thank you! I just didn't expect the TBB color to have changed SO drastically.

Wow - that new TBB is a LOT different than the original! I'm going to hoard my original 1 oz bottle!

Great review, as always!

Thank you!!! Next time you swing in, let's find out if he has any more of those 1 oz bottles. Also, did anyone else notice a change? Maybe I didn't shake it enough?

It is ironic that neither color looks like Texas Bluebonnets!

If I wanted the bluebonnets color, I'd choose a purple-leaning blue. Ironically, I think Baystate Blue could pass if it were just a little darker. I don't think anybody would really argue with Asa Gao being called "Texas Bluebonnets", either.

Hold your horses !!!!... My Texas Blue Bonnet comes in the large bottle and it looks more like the your original (TWSBI 580) 1oz Blue Bonnet!!!

I need to dig my bottle out.. (is in the office) .. but I am quite sure my Blue Bonnet does not look turquoise.

Same here. Maybe more shaking is required? My Benevolent Badger Blue at first came out awfully light until I gave it a good shake.

Okay, I'll try it again once I've used up the last I have currently loaded. I'll do a jitterbug while holding it and let you all know.

BTW, I wonder what happens if I put the bottle in a sonic cleaner without water? Will it shake?

Maybe. You could also put it in a zip-loc bag in water (no need to tempt fate by immersing the seam).

I can hardly stand the anticipation!

I may try it tonight. I like the idea of the ziplock bag. I'll keep you informed.

I decanted my new bottle of J Herbin Rouge Hemitite into one with a wider mouth, and am amazed by how quickly the gold sediment settled in what remained in the original bottle. It's a long story and it was late and I panicked and didn't get all the ink from the old bottle into the new bottle. Anyway, the point is, like someone said on another thread, some inks just need the bejesus shaken out of them to get them mixed correctly. I wonder if they make a home sized version of those paint can shakers they have at the hardware store...

I keep meaning to try the ultrasonic cleaner, but I get sidetracked. Maybe you can put this on top of the clothes dryer, or in one of those little bouncy seats like we have for babies? At least the ink will be amused.

I've actually tried it with some bulletproof Noodler's Inks that already have the labels off. The glass made an unsettling sound in my ultrasonic cleaner even though the bottles sat in a plastic tray. I kept thinking they might shatter at any moment like an opera singer shattering a champagne glass with sound waves. Nothing bad happened, though. Unfortunately, I couldn't say how well it worked.

Nope - no ultrasonic cleaner have I got, and my washing machine does this little dance with what can be best described as a violent shudder as it finishes it's final spin cycle that would probably launch the bottle across the room. I am happy with doing the simple shake the dickens out of it by hand. Seems to be doing the trick.

Just to follow up on this, I recently purchased Isellpen's last bottle of J. Herbin 1670 Rouge, and it happened to be the old formulation. I transferred it to a cleaned out Stipula Calamo bottle (because of the narrow neck on the Herbin bottle, of course), with removed stickers, so I thought I'd see whether I could shake this up in my ultrasonic. Worked like a charm, and the round bottle made less of a racket.
